Now that the next gen is upon us I was thinking back about what has been my favourite or most memorable game of this gen?
For those of us that aren't jumping straight into the next gen this could be a good opportunity to take in anything we've missed.
There's been some great games but for me the most memorable game is COD4. It was the first game that i really felt blown away by the ability of the PS3 and the first game which I got involved with online gaming. The ghillie mission through Chernobyl was a stand out memory of the game.
Ironically it is this current instalment of COD that is making me ask this question. I came to the conclusion that instead of time consumingly playing game after game and ranking up, why don't I play something else and experience something new. While there's still plenty of life left in the this current gen system why don't I experience and appreciate what it has achieved.

MP is definitely CoD4. SP is either Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2. Arkham Asylum and Uncharted 2 deserve shout outs too.
I'm a big stealth fan, so have fond memories of Deux Ex Human Revolution and Dishonoured. I'm hoping the new Thief game tops those tho....It is coming out on ps3 isn't it?
There have been many good games but those few I really enjoyed.
Uncharted 4 on the PS4, drooling at the thought
Online is pretty easy, early on it was COD4, followed up with Battlefield Bad Company 2. No other competitive game has come close to those two for me.
Co-op is much harder to call. GTA5 has just been awesome in a private co-op orientated season with friends. Uncharted co-op was unexpectedly good fun and lasted a lot longer than I thought it would after been initially sceptical about multiplayer been added to the series. Borderlands, Saints Row and Dead Island were all great games for their co-op campaigns.
Single Player is even harder to call as this is my preferred mode. GTA5 was pretty awesome and a return to form for the series. Red Dead was unexpectedly great after its rather meh outing on PS2. Uncharted 2 was outstanding and the peak of the series for me. Motorstorm 2 was fast furious fun which also provided me with my biggest wow moment graphically this generation. And Super Stardust HD is the one game that I have consistently returned to throughout the generation.
And an extra mention for the crap games I thoroughly enjoyed even though so much was actually wrong with the games. Alpha Protocol, The Saboteur and Driver.
It was that much of an experience I could forgive the bugs and issues with the Ps3 version, I mean, even the thread on this forum was epic!
In fact, 2013 has been a tremendous year and the generation is going out with a bang, as I'd place Bioshock: Infinite and GTA V as runners up.
Most stand out UC2
GTAV is up there too.
Honourable mentions, go to Uncharted 2, Red Dead Redemption, Assassins Creed 2. All games that I love.
SP is Batman Arkham Asylum
