It has taken me 20 years to finally sit down and watch this masterpiece.
Now I consider myself a hardened man, but have a soft spot for WW2. At the end, with Liam Neeson's Oscar Winning performance when he breaks down, literally had me gasping for breath. I just want to take my hat off to a movie that should be recognised as the best ever made.

Yes I meant his performance was worthy of an Oscar. I didn't know who won it to be honest.
Doesnt matter about the Oscar in my mind Neeson won the Oscar anyway
All I will say is that, for many reasons, everyone should see it.
This movie is a complete masterpiece.
It's beautifully shot of course, but not the deeply moving experience intended. A sense of being arm-twisted lingers throughout.
See what I mean, OP?
btw - if you're implying a contrivance of opinion you're 100% wrong.
The girl in the red coat is Thomas Keneally's invention, not Spielberg's. She is an important part of Schindler's Ark, the novel on which the film is based.

It's a fantastic film one of my top 10 if not top 5 but not one you watch too often.
I can empathise with that view but it's a difficult scene to film in black and white. In the novel, the girl's scarlet cap and coat "compelled Schindler's interest because it made a statement, the way the argumentative shiftworker in Wegierska had"; Spielberg could perhaps have found another way to make the girl distinctive, but remember Schindler is looking down, without binoculars, and following her movement through crowded and chaotic streets. Leaving her out isn't an option because she creates a pivotal moment for Schindler: "He knew they had no shame, since the guard at the base of the column had not felt any need to stop the red child from seeing things. But, worst of all, if there was no shame, it meant there was official sanction."
May i ask if the op or any other fm has seen 'the boy in the striped pyjamas',it is also a film concerning WW2 and i found it beautiful, awful, had me in tears.
I too thought Schindlers List was breathtaking, illustrating how inhuman the human condition can be. It is one of my favorite films also
My only gripe with it was that i felt that Oskar Schindler was playing a secondary character to Amon Goeth! But it was undoubtedly Liam Neeson's finest ever performance!
That movie was incredible, powerful, harrowing and heartbreaking! By telling it through the eyes of an innocent naive boy just made it that much more sad!
The angry violent solider always made me jump and was simply terrifying and the ending even though i knew it was coming was still so shocking!
Yeah, seen this too, and Saving Private Ryan, that beach scene, unforgettable.
I got Schindlers List and Saving Private Ryan at Cex, they were a steal! Well worth it. I would love to see them on Blu-ray.
The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas is definitely the most moving film I have ever seen. It gave me a lump in my throat and brought tears to my eyes. I think it may be the only time TV/Film has done that to me. The ending is so harrowing especially because it is based in fact.
Schindlers List, I need to see again. I've seen it a few times before but not for a while and cant remember the whole story but I know that I hold it as one of the greatest films.
The ending is so heartbreaking
I've not seen Schindler's List since I saw it in school. Time for a rewatch.
