The Sun says: STRICTLY Come Dancing star Denise Van Outen was groomed by Gary Glitter when she was just 16. (link)
I'm not sure if linking to this breaks any forum rules, and my memory is hazy but I do have a question for anybody who watched the Big Breakfast in the 90's. Now this is all from my hazy early-in-the-morning memory but this is what I remember. Could anybody else fill me in:
<THE FOLLOW IS ALL ALLEGEDLY / FROM MY BAD MEMORY etc..>
Once when Johnny Vaughan and Denise did the "read the papers" section an article about either the gentleman who's just been arrested or possibly a late DJ who has recently been in the news came up. My memory fails me on which man it was.
If I remember correctly Denise made a kind of skin-scrawl expression and then told bits of a story about the man being a friend of the family, or someone who came over the her house for a party. And that she (allegedly) had to sit on his lap and that he (allegedly) had wandering hands.
From the expression on her face and the way she was talking I instantly presumed a certain type of incident took place and that she was uncomfortable in talking about it.
I think I can remember Johnny Vaughan moving on quite quickly to the next topic as he realised they were going a bit too close to a legal boundary.
Now all the above is from a hazy memory and could quite possibly not be true. I cannot remember the man's name but I believe it is one of those two gentleman.
What I'm seeking is somebody else that recalls this episode of the show and might be able to recall what was said better than I can. Thanks.

LOL really??! That must be a mistake,
Van Outen's personal life has been subjected to the sharp glare of the British tabloid media. In 1991, aged 17, she had a relationship with shamed popstar Gary Glitter.

That's Life? The show with Esther Rantzen?
Oh that. Apparently he behaved very strangely on that show and didn't look best pleased to be "done" by them, I've not watched it and have no desire to, but it's not surprising really given what came out later on.
I mentioned something along these lines a while ago on here. I don't remember the above incident but what I do remember is GG being mentioned and DVO saying she couldn't talk about it for legal reasons. This was definitely on The Big Breakfast.

I think sexual assault (which is what is implied by the OP) is illegal regardless of the age of the victim, isn't it??
Thanks. Seems I can't edit it, needs an 'l' on the end of that URL. The link is:

I remember it well because Denise was a bit of an icon of mine in the 90s and I remember thinking "EEWWW" and feeling a bit dissapointed in her.
Still only shows the Sun homepage and when you search for DvO all it comes up with is stories on SCD.
SCD = Strictly Come Dancing.
remember Steps of woe oh steps of woe steps of woe oh steps of woe.
She was 16
Then there is no story unless there are allegations that he sexually assaulted her.
Thanks.
Although Gary Glitter is proof that the advocates of "it's not that big a deal if they're past puberty" are wrong. Men who have a sexual interest in girls of 13 and 14 often have an interest in girls even younger.
