I grew up experiencing many a great tune either title music or in-game.
Pinnacle for me was the SNES and Amiga chips.
And I had SO many 17Bit Software music discs
Disc based gaming soon put a stop to all that though

Yeah I think video game music was much better back then.

Alistair Brimble and Martin Galloway are two people of note from those days

There's a certain nostalgic entertainment I can get from "8-bit music" and there's some brilliant remixes out there, too - but if I were given the choice between "Sonic the Hedgehog: Green Hill Zone," and "Mass Effect 2: The Suicide Mission," it really isn't much competition.

The old stuff is good because it tickles my childhood memories, but in reality its like asking whether I think my plinking on my dad's synthesizer when I was eight is better than the collective works of Beethoven.

    ie. it isn't.

Ah the sound of the C64, the bips and bops of the Speccy/CPC, the sounds of the Amiga.. Good in their day, and a novelty to listen to now, but give me modern game music any day.
