Hi,
I created this Huawei Ascend G300 - General Information thread so I and other owners have a place to ask questions with having to create a new thread.
I really wanted to ask about a case for the G300, has anyone found a black neoprene case/pouch for G300 that can be closed at the top with a velcro or magnetic strap? All the cases I've seen are open at the top which seems a bit of a naff design!
In fact 99% of all phone cases available seem a bit of a naff design as they will hardly protect your phone if you drop it, it takes a lot more than a 2-3mm piece of leather, neoprene, or fabric to absorb the amount of shock applied when the corners of your shiny new smartphone hit the concrete! Still, thats all these university design graduates for you, LOL!
Cheers folks!

If it was to protect it from that properly then it would be bulky and heavy which most people would not want.
the leather/neoprene type cases are to prevent scratches when it's in your pocket/band rather than preventing damage from a drop.
thanks.
Yes...I certainly would...its a fantastic phone for £100. I've had mine a few days and have tested it with 3D Games, Google Maps (inc Street Maps), BBC iPlayer, YouTube, and more and its handled everything smoothly! The screen is bright, colourful and sharp too and you can hardly see the pixels. I had a few teething problems with it not ringing when called but its ok now so I think it was the Vodafone network. One bloke on Facebook says he has accually stopped using his iPhone since getting a Huawei Ascend G300...it really is that good!
If you go into a Vodafone shop you may be able to test the G300 out, if you do you will be very supprised just how good it is, if the price doesn't suddenly go up one day ill be supprised because its worth 3 times the asking price.
The only problem I'm having now is finding a suitable case for it, you cant just put a smartphone in your jean pocket without a risk of snapping it in half when you sitt down...LOL..so im trying to locate a nice leather case with verticle belt clip (not the ones that look like a ladies purse!) anybody found one?
Oh yes, you can even get the G300 unlocked at Vodafone for £19.99....bung a Talkmobile Essentials PAYG SIM in it after that and you can call the same network for 4p or landline and other mobiles for 8p, its only 25p a day for 25Mb of internet too! I have plans to get that SIM soon!
Hope that helps.

What will this ICS update do for the phone, the phone seems ok with its current 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system?
Take a look at the shocksock stuff. May be able to get it for a phone similar in dimension to yours.
Its much faster and I've tried iplayer and it's good. The camera is much better than the osf.
the battery life could be better, the camera etc.
The case I got was called a COMBIE G1242 and is made by Golla ( http://www.golla.com )
By the way, has anyone had trouble sending an MMS with a photo attached on their G300? I just cant get mine to send or receive one and all the settings are correct!
I've heard that Huawei may release the update to ICS for the G300 in the UK soon once they've finished testing. I looked at 'online upgrade' yesterday on my phone and I found a rom called 'B927', anyone know what this is?
B892 is the official uk vodafone gingerbread update and there are 'B926' (chinese ICS) and 'B927' which I believe is a UK/European demo.
I just view the modaco website, tons of info there but it costs to post
I rooted my phone on B885 then I installed B892 without any problems (loses root boot leaves supersu app on) applying the same procedure to root again and I can't.
Anyone got any tips?
Battery life is fine, just make sure the first few times you charge the battery leave it on charge overnight.
Does anyone know if when ICS is released it will make the phone smoother to use?
anyone help
Not sure what you mean when you say “it cost to post” on the Modaco site.
You can make a user name and password just the same as the DS forum.
You may be getting confused with the use of downloaded ROM's which is generally free but if you want the ad free ones then there is a charge for this, about £10 for a year.
Been a year or so since I joined that site and I’m not aware of any charges to join unless this has changed since I joined.
anyone help
Think she needs to contcat Vodafone to get correct settings for the phone
done that. vodaphone tech services say thay its a faulty handset we'll have to see with a new handset
Sounds like complete rubbish on Vodafones part there – but hopefully a new handset will help.

I can confirm that it does not have RDS.
I'd like to get rid of all the Vodafone bloatware and possibly have a vanilla UK ICS device unlocked to use on Ovivo Mobile. Does this mean I need to root the device? If so are there any really easy to follow guides?
