Surprised it lasted as long as it did, can't talk about ongoing cases on DS so I imagine it's been deleted.

Ah. Why is that the case that you can't speak about ongoing cases on DS?

Because its still a criminal proceeding and all talk of it may prejudice the case

    William Roache aka Cock Roach!

The newspaper discuss this case frequently before it even reaches court and FB and Twitter have 100,000's of comments.

Really sad the topic was removed!

Even though newspapers don't have a great reputation, the buck stops with the editor when it comes to what claims are made. In the case of Chris Jeffries (an early suspect in the Jo Yeates murder), the defamation of an innocent man as a sinister "nutty professor" was found to be in contempt of court.

People may think that forum posts, blog entries and tweets are somehow different, but they're not. You are essentially publishing yourself to a potential mass audience and you may be found in contempt of court if you post anything prejudicial against William Roache or his accusers.

Even that sort of biased comment is dodgy, oxygenjj. You are clearly suggesting that a specific verdict should be reached in a criminal trial.

And people are confused as to why these threads keep vanishing.

Anyone who thinks luck comes into the equation obviously has a dim view of our justice system.

Anyhow, if he's innocent I'm sure he'll be vilified. If not, I'm sure he'll end up like the other co-owners of his magazine company.

If his other warped views are anything to go by, he probably thinks he's innocent of anything, regardless of whether he did or did not do what he's being accused of.
