Someone posted that Clara is the female version of the name Clarence. This made me think of Clarence the angel in "It's a Wonderful Life". We know that Oswin in Asylum wasn't originally meant to be Clara which would have made her debut story a Xmas story like Its a Wonderful Life. There was catch phrase in Its a Wonderful Life of "Everytime a bell rings an angel gets his wings" and our next two stories have Bell and Rings in their respective titles.
My theory does have problems about Clara moving when people are looking at her (maybe they're not looking at her face?) and that she's not made of stone (but she has been a statue!). But I'm sure they can be resolved.

Whoever Clara is I hope she is someone important. All what would be the point of her character if she had nothing to do with relating to the Doctor’s name
I had this theory that Clara is Captain Jack daughter. But for me the theory had too many holds in it for me to explain how it will work
