What albums do you think should have had more singles released or too many singles were released?
Not enough singles:
Demi Lovato's Unbroken defiantly. Unbroken, Hold Up, Who's That Boy and Mistake all could have been singles.
Rihanna's Talk That Talk
Britney Spears Blackout
Lady Gaga The Fame Monster
Too many singles
Beyonce I Am... Sasha Fierce

To Few Marina And The Diamonds- Electra Heart so many potentials seemed like the record company just didn't want to bother.
Disagree with Gaga from Jan 09- August 10 we got 7 Singles from TF/TFM and that was quite enough.
There is a way of doing it without over doing it which for me is Beyonce's issue she rarley creates an album more of a singles package. A Single is there to promote the album 5 singles spaced fairly apart with decent video's creates an era and a body of work Madonna being a great example of this.
Talk that talk had plently of singles
We found Love
You da one
Where have you been
Talk that talk
Birthday cake
Cockiness
What let it down was the lack of music videos.
i think the opposite, i don't think they can have too few. I prefer the old days when you'd get one or maybe two, sometimes none. Even today 3 should be the legalised maximum:p
Years ago, maybe 2 or 3 tracks were released as singles off an album, but now its nearly every single track!!:eek: Why??:eek:
Seriously I honest couldn't give a toss about singles - the only thing that makes them interesting to me is if they had a unreleased b-side track on them (proper track not a bloody remix).
The Saturdays - Wordshaker
The Saturdays - On Your Radar
Girls Aloud - Out of Control
Britney Spears - Blackout
Too many singles:
Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
I always though Kylie could have squeezed a 4th single out of Body Language.
I don't think Katy Perry released too many from Teenage Dream. I think she released just enough. Fair enough if the quality dipped, but it didn't. Plus each single was a sizeable hit, had a great video, and followed a nice schedule. Teenage Dream had one of the best album campaigns in a long time actually, and I hope other artists take note!
I think she would of, but she got cancer.
No, she was diagnosed just over a year later.
Body Language underperformed and therefore was pushed aside in favour of Ultimate Kylie and Showgirl. However Secret (Take You Home) was released in Taiwan.
I do agree, but I've always felt like the album was a collection of future hits rather than a single body of work.
Spirit- Yesterday,Take A Bow
Echo- Out Of My Head, Can't Breathe
Glassheart- Glassheart, Come Alive, Favourite Scar
God bless you and him always!!!
Holly
P.S. To me, "Love Don't Cost A Thing" and "Just Like Sunshine" would have been great songs to release to radio after then two songs that did go to radio.
You've just reminded me of those two songs, I loved them!
A Million Lights was particularly bad for this as there were easily 4 or 5 decent singles waiting to be lifted (Sexy Den A Mutha, A Million Lights, Screw You, Ghetto Baby, even Girl In The Mirror all could/should have had a release).
Yeah Yeah or Waiting from Messy Little Raindrops could have worked quite nicely too.
Although 3 Words got 3 singles, Rain On Me or Stand Up would also have done fairly well I guess.
I am pretty sure I read Cheryl said she wanted to release Stand Up but her label decided against it in the end.
Messy Little Raindrops was just a poor album and rushed released and I don't think Cheryl could really be bothered promoting it, so no more singles were released. Plus the fact The Flood underperformed probably played a part in it.
A Million Lights should have had a few more singles and it is a shame GA reunion halted the rest of the promo. There was an article by The Mirror that Screw You was scrapped as single as they wanted the focus on GA. They did say though they are considering continuing releasing music after the GA tour is over, though I think it has been too long now.
What utter tosh, there was only 5 singles from Mylo Xtyloto in the UK out of 14 tracks on the album?
Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, Paradise, Charlie Brown, Princess Of China & Hurts Like Heaven. The single releases may have varied from country to country, but that's no different from other bands.
I think people on this thread are forgetting that 9/10 tracks on MJ's Thriller were singles, plus Bad had most of it's tracks released as singles too, so it was also happening in the 80's too.
I was thinking the same, it's been 7 months since Under The Sun which pretty much signals the end of another era prematurely, unless she's re-releasing A Million Lights with updated material. After the great success of 3 Words, her career has majorly nosedived.
It really has, Messy Little Raindrops must have put people off buying her future albums, it is terrible.
Plus she really should have toured, she probably could have done a huge UK tour right after 3 Words, but choose to support BEP instead, which I get if she planned on breaking Europe but she hasn't really done anything in Europe since then.
I said this elsewhere and it may just be me, but I can't imagine a re-release of an album which already has three versions available.
Kylie Minogue - Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue - Light Years
Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite
Pet Shop Boys - Yes
Girls Aloud - Tangled Up
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Read My Lips
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Trip The Light Fantastic
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Make A Scene
