Already announced it's being axed but I assume Friday is the last appearance of the 0530 ITV Early Morning News as it doesn't appear in the schedules after Friday. It was always under resourced by comparison with the BBC 5-6 am News and consisted largely of repeats of ITV News at Ten and clips from NBC Nightly News replete with Brian Williams. Then at 6 am came GMTV/Daybreak with a completely different news agenda. But sorry to see three-and-a-half hours of news a week disappear.

On a separate but related matter, ITV usually has 3 bulletins on Christmas Day (apart from the 5:55 a.m. bulletin, which is no more. However, there are only 2 bulletins on Christmas Day - at 1:15 and 8:30. Did ITV have to get permission from Ofcom for reducing the number of its Christmas Day bulletins?
Depends on the party Friday Lunch / Night !!
It's a pity it's going, it is a nice summary before SKY News & BBC Breakfast at 06:00am.
And there's are NO scrolling graphics.
I know it's a rehash of the previous evenings bulletin, but even so.
With a mug of tea and some toast & marmalade, a nice way to start the day.

Your argument could equally apply to ITV News at 1.30, 6.30 and Ten
Is it ITN that is surplus to requirements, at least in its present form? Would it not make sense for ITN and Sky News to merge?
The bulletins at 1:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. still get more viewers than the 5:30 a.m. bulletin did.
No. TV news plurality is essential.

That wasn't my point - there are now a multitude of other channels available offering news in many different shapes and forms. In audience terms the BBC is far ahead of ITV - more than double the breakfast audience for instance.
The 5:30 a.m. bulletin was surplus to requirements because people who want overnight news coverage can watch the BBC News Channel or Sky News. That is separate from the issue of the audience for daytime and evening news coverage.
There is no ITV News programme on at Breakfast time so that is irrelevant
I was one of its viewers. Had on in background as leave for work at 6am.
Was much better than BBC News at that time. Is the World feed with a few UK stories dropped in the ad breaks. Plus they waste 10 minutes from 5.45 to 5.55 on a world paper review, before the weather.
Must have been one heck of a party as it didn't appear this morning despite being billed in some listings magazines
It must have been !
That's why I used the word scheduled !
As on SKY EPG also.
People are in bed for the majority of that time, particularly at Christmas when people have a lie in.
There are still some people who work whilst the rest of you enjoy yourselves.
so has this comoe to an end then? never knew that
