The very first result was a fairly undramatic one, Olly Murs failed to submit a song, and thus was eliminated in last place, joined in the bottom two by Ke$ha. It was a strong start from Tatu here, with Paloma Faith & Busted also pulling out impressive results, landing in the top three! Eventual runner up Taylor Swift finished mid pack, while, most surprisngly to me, despite being viewed as a contender, Kelly Clarkson was in the bottom two for much of the evening, only being helped out by some last minute votes.

Three of our four finallists came from Heat Two, but Pink was the only one who really got off to a great start, with the Sugababes scraping past the bottom two by just one vote and Shakira finishing mid-pack, beaten by both Coldplay and the Spice Girls. At the bottom end of the vote, Lily Allen, after a performance sent in a little bit late and Linkin Park both ended up leaving - Linkin Park after losing the first real panel vote of the series, and Lily after squaring off with Ke$ha later in a battle of the survivors elimination.
Pink topped the first combined round of the vote with relative ease, and both the Scissor Sisters and eventual winner Shakira rose dramatically in the vote. Ke$ha rebounded hard to take 4th place, while Kelly Clarkson & Demi Lovato gained a little bit more support. However, the bottom of the vote is more interesting here, as Tatu, Busted, Coldplay & the Spice Girls all saw dramatic tumbles in support, with Busted in particular dropping from top three to bottom three. Coldplay were deemed 'not guilty enough' in the panel vote, while we controversially said goodbye to the Spice Girls in the panel vote.

Serial bottom 2/3 escapee Selena Gomez & the Scene defeated both acts in the panel vote, however, sending Carlisle & Luke home from the competition earlier than many expected.

Eventual winner Shakira topped the vote this time around, becoming the third act in as many shows, with Ke$ha continuing her impressive bounce back from the week one bottom three to take second place. Taylor threatened the higher reaches of the vote for the first time this week, while Alphabeat slid from the top half of the vote for the first time in the competition. Busted and Selena Gomez & the Scene both appeared in the bottom two for the second time, but after her vote base entirely crumbled, Selena was sent packing.

Week Five is the week in which I had to make an emergency dash to the vets during the results show, so thankfully, Kevin took the results over for me! In a mild panic about impariality, I leaked the results, and then promptly forgot to save my spreadsheet, but these results should be no news to anyone! Pink impressed again, Sugababes' inspirational track proved a vote winner, Shakira fell back to mid pack! Anthems proved the un-doing of Taylor Swift landing her in the bottom two for the first time, but Busted's third bottom two appearance was their last, and they were sent home.
Shakira came back to top the vote for the second time, edging Pink into second place this week! Tatu remained stable in third place, while Taylor rebounded up to fourth! As you can see, the results for most acts were very up and down each week - it really felt like a contest solely based on song-choice, with no clear front runners here! Kelly Clarkson had a VERY bad week, having topped the vote two shows prior, Justin's act was substantially bottom here, but was chosen to be saved over both Ke$ha and Paloma Faith, who had both skirted with the bottom twos in previous weeks.
A pattern begins to emerge here, becoming the 4th week in a row either Shakira or Pink had topped the vote, and the second consecutive week of those acts as a two! Tatu escaped the bottom two by just one vote this time, while Demi Lovato and Alphabeat landed there for the first time, alongside last show's bottom two, Kelly Clarkson. Despite having the highest votes out of the bottom three from viewers, she was sent packing, alongside Alphabeat, who lost out in a deadlock in the panel!

Demi Lovato bounced back from her bottom three appearance well, landing in third place, while the Sugababes slid down to 5th. For the third time, Shakira topped the vote, while Pink remained in the top two again. Also for the third time, eventual runner upTaylor Swift finished in fourth place, despite being widely tipped to exit, being somewhat of a marmite act in the contest - finishing top or bottom for most voters, with very little inbetween.

Going in to the final, it felt like a two horse race to win between Shakira & Pink, with Shakira continuing her dominance, taking the lead by just one vote, over Taylor Swift - who rose in the votes to take second place, one point behind Shakira and one point over Pink. The final result was constantly changing, with three of the four acts hitting the bottom spot at different points of the night, however, the Sugababes eventually fell adrift of the pack, finishing up just five points behind eventual winner Shakira, and three points behind third place.

Part two was an even closer affair, with Shakira and Taylor Swift tied in first place, and Pink slightly behind, just two votes off making it through to the third round of the final.

The final result was excruciatingly close - with both acts getting 8 votes to win apiece. As soon as one act pulled ahead, another vote came in for the other, making the votes thrilling to watch (for me, anyway). To declare a winner, I had to refer back to the earlier votes, with Shakira and Taylor tied in the second round of the final, Shakira's narrow win in the first round clinched the overall result for her, leaving her a very worthy winner, with Taylor finishing very respectably in second place.
