I have just purchased one of 'Tesco's' own branded DAB clock radio's and I have to say that for the price of just £22.50 they are superb!
For a clock radio - the audio quality is fantastic and so is the radio reception...both on DAB and FM.
Oh...and the other thing I like bout this is that you never have to set the time... switch on...and within seconds, it gives you the exact time too!
I am normally fussy about purchasing unbranded makes...but my wife wanted a new clock radio, so I just purchased the Tesco's own brand by chance as she wasn't really fussed about the make or model...but she did mention a while ago that she would like DAB...
The DAB radio is very sensitive and with a simple scan, it recieves everything it should do, also FM is excellent and is picking up stations outside the area. The audio quality is great too for what size the unit is and sounds really good both on DAB and FM with a nice 'rich' sound.
It is not very often I would post on forums about certain items I have purchased...but I would strongly recommend this if you are looking for a DAB clock radio without paying too much.
My only 'minor' (and very minor) issue...is that the time display could be a little more visable as the display is a bit 'thin'.
Apart from that...for £22.50... this has to be one of the best sounding clock radio's I have ever brought...

I ask because I need a new clock radio and I'm tempted after your review but can't find anything at that price - the nearest are these http://www.tesco.com/direct/technology-gaming/dab-clock-radios/cat3372421.list?catId=4294959765+4294949376
The cheapest is £25 and I certainly don't want it in pink:eek:
It looks good.
Yes...that's the one...
Credit where it is due...
That Link does not work
Works for me I've just clicked on it in your post and here it is copied and pasted

It's even odder that if you do a Google search for 'Tesco DAB clock radio' it brings the link (and other similar radios) that I gave
BUT
a search for 'Tesco digital clock radios' brings up the one the OP bought as the first hit.
I agree wholeheartedly. I bought one on a whim a few weeks ago and was amazed at its sensitivity in poor signal conditions. Very good indeed. My wife also took it to work to try out where in their office they get hopeless FM and DAB reception and it brought the DAB signals in pretty easily so she's going to get one too! Obviously it does sound small but for the money what can you expect?
Asda seem to have discontinued them though but she's going to check a couple of stores on her travels.
If it does does it give stereo output?
Would then be able feed my bedroom stereo system to have background music on while I potter around upstairs. I use a Roberts DAB radio in the bedroom at the moment but that has no alarm and has a top-facing display making it awkward to change channel etc while laying down. That could find a new home in the kitchen.
And you think a Technika will still be working by the time such potential changes happen
DAB coverage is still pathetic, might be nice if they improved that before changing yet again.
It's a £22.50 radio !! got to be worth a try if you want or need something like this . If it was £2250 then yes it might be worth waiting for DAB+ but you might be waiting for ever !
I bought a Roberts clock radio with blue backlight & found it far too bright,it's now in the spare room.
Yep. 2025 or thereabouts.
YES....it does have a headphone socket at the side...and YES it is 'stereo' (providing the station is in stereo)
Wow... this little machine just gets better!!!
Back in 1982 I was buying MW & LW clock radio's ('Domico' was the make) and they sounded dire!... yet 30 odd years later you get one the same price with FM and DAB 'stereo'... wow... and not only do you recieve DAB in stereo... but 'FM' is also in 'stereo' too!
It's not that bright to be honest...quite dim... just that the time display is slightly 'thin' (if that makes sense)
The 'blue' background display is just the right brightness - and not too over-powering at all... but the LCD time display could do with using a slightly 'bolder' display... but I have adjusted to it now.
A great bit of kit for the price... and don't forget that the time automatically adjusts itself too... what clock radio will do that for you at that price?
Also... (as mentioned) the DAB and FM radio has 'stereo' sound when used with the headphone socket...
For £22.50...you get DAB/FM... (stereo) and a clock that adjusts itself and keeps perfect time... I can't moan at the price for what you get really...
Well, following this thread I looked one up in Tesco this morning, the price is right so I bought one - to replace my aged Sony Digicube
So far I'm pretty impressed, can't go wrong at the price.
Nice it's got two alarms - saves altering the alarm for the odd occasions I need a different time (this Wednesday funnily enough! ).
Erm... scrub all of that. Six weeks after purchase, and the Pixie radio is dead as a doornail. It must only have ever been powered on a few dozen times (which makes the Pure One Mini look positively long-lived, at a year-and-a-half when it died). Ah well, back to using the 30-year-old FM radio I suppose. Thank goodness I hadn't Freecycled it.
Is it still ok on batteries? The mains power pack looks a bit cheap and nasty. I use mine exclusively on batteries.
