Much Ado About Nothing - I always hated this play at school but I'm surprised to say that I rather enjoyed this film.

Walt Disney The Emperor's New Groove

I never seen this one before and it doesn't get talked about much - so it always slips under my radar. Finally got a chance to watch it and I thought it was pretty damn good! And it's actually funny!

Decent enough, can't see too much to complain about. A bit humourless but not too dark either. Fleshed out story of Zod and his accomplices, Shannon was great as Zod.
No messing about with explaining your strengths and weaknesses to an newspaper reporter with international distribution. And the god-awful flying voice over scene is gone. The fight with the Ursa and Non replacements was great.

    This is the end 2/10

Normally I find this kind of film absolutely hilarious, find the bottom of the barrel jokes etc funny but the whole way through I was thinking......what the hell is this? It was if they were given £100 budget, a day to write the script and only a handful of actors who happened to be free for the day to play themselves. The CGI was literally the most shocking thing I have seen in my life, worse than straight to DVD stuff.

Even if you find spoof films, dirty humour, scary-movie kind of films hilarious then seriously don't go and see it, awful.

Currently rewatching The Running Man - and it's pretty surreal how prescient it is - and how angry I am at the govt at using dystopia fiction as sourcebooks...

Was thinking that as well. We're probably only a few years away from having a brutal reality tv show to solve prison overcrowding.

Amazingly awful eighties 'sci-fi' clunker that only proved the Cannon Group were capable of making just as terrible bigger-budget films as smaller ones. Horribly reminiscent of some naff Lew Grade production in its cheesy, dated US/Euro feel, everything about this must've seemed off even on release. Terrible acting, sets, direction, the lot (and from Tobe Hooper, FFS).

That said, even though I'm no fan of the 'so bad it's good' mentality, it did provide some unintentional comedy (Colin Firth trying to play it deadly straight, say). However, surely even the most deluded eighties 'sci-fi' nostalgist would have trouble getting anything worthy out of this rotten old tosh. A true milestone in bad cinema. 3/10

But boy oh boy is Mathilda May hot in that movies.

Skyfall - Best Bond ever. Not by a long chalk. An overly generous 7/10. Slow, ponderous and a ridiculous bad guy. Daniel Craig's Bond has been wasted in this franchise apart from Casino Royale.

    Thoroughly disappointed.

    Skyline (2010) on FilmFour

This was basically Cloverfield with aliens and it was a perfectly watchable sci-fi film.

    Verdict 6/10

    After Earth (2013)

My friend wanted to see this after she'd seen the trailer but I wasn't convinced because of the comments of film critics. However, I found it was an engaging sci-fi film but suspension of disbelief was required on some occasions but then again that usually the case in any sci-fi film.

    Verdict 6.5/10

    Pretty much flawless.

Watched it tonight and agree, maybe a little unsophisticated by today's standards but it is an absolute classic

First time I have seen it 7 out of 10.

World War Z 6 out of 10 not a bad film but a bit slow in places.

What a disappointment. There's 6 different time periods to follow and this film jumps into each one every few minutes (sometimes seconds) or so. While a bit distracting at first, it wasn't hard to follow. The bad news is that the movie (for me) was uninteresting and vastly underwhelming. My favorite part of the film was the life of Timothy Cavendish (UK 2012). Other than that, I cared for no one in this movie. And there's some very poor writing in this – particularly the part of the film that has Tom Hanks playing a Tribesman in the distant future. The special effects are very average. You're not going to be amazed by anything you see. But what was truly terrible were the makeup effects. They were horrendous! Truly awful! Most of the actors look absolutely ridiculous when playing other ethnic characters. Some of them mostly looked “alien”-ish than human. It's an ambitious film but a forgettable one.
