Suddenly the files on my Kobo won't open - all I get is a message saying 'Oops - this file cannot be opened' although I have opened the same files previously.
Any one any idea what the problem could be?

Tried rebooting it? Also have you updated its software recently? I think the latest version is 1.9.17.
I should have said 'document' instead of files -the bokks stored on the reader won't open although they open on the website.
I have updated it. What do you mean re-boot? Is that the same as going back to factory settings?
I've contacted the Kobo customer care and they are investigating - no solution as yet.
Nope not the same as going back to factory settings.
1. Wake up the Kobo
2. Slide the power button and hold to the right for 10 seconds
3. Let go
4. Briefly slide the switch once more quickly
5. LED should go blue then green
6. Kobo will restart with happy face
7. You'll be back at main screen a few seconds later
Right - am about to follow instructions!
Thanks for advice - it was worth a try!
Hmm. In that case try a factory reset and re-transfer your books back from your Kobo account/computer. Or have you tried that?

edit: If your books are on the Micro SD card remove the card. Card might be corrupted maybe?
I don;t have an SD card.
Right - I'll see what customer care say when they get back to me.
Then (gulp) it;s factory settings if I get no joy.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Try the basic reset perhaps? Pinhole at the back. http://kobo.intelliresponse.com/index.jsp?requestType=NormalRequest&id=1321&source=5&question=How%20do%20I%20reset%20my%20eReader?
I went back to factory settings as you advised, reinstalled, everything is back, and everything opens.
Alan and Psionic, thanks for giving me some time and help - it really is appreciated.
