I suspect the 'most important' part simply refers to not having one at all?.
I wouldn't have thought simply upgrading the centre speaker would make much difference?.
I guess I think my speakers are kinda old and not upto scratch lol
heres a listing of the exact set I have

would it be worth upgrading
Something like this set would blow those speakers into the weeds

It can be hit and miss changing one speaker at a time. There is no guarantee it is going to match the others in the set sonically so I would always say upgrade the lot so you get a balanced sound.
The centre speaker carries a lot of dialogue in a surround mix so saying it does the least work is debatable at best. Depends how important you thing dialogue is to a movie I suppose.
they dont deliver them here sadly:(
Spot on.
What Yamaha AV receiver do you have?
As chris says, it is easy to mismatch speakers. A 5.1 speaker package will be matched in terms of performance and tonal balance.
Another package to consider is the Monitor Audio Vector bundle. You can find it for £300 (less than half original price) if you shop around online.
I have the
RXV471

I already bought the Yamaha sub-woofer because the Samsung one was not compatible with the receiver so I really just need the 5 speakers set

and this centre

Plus the matching sub which you might not require. The above would come to the thick end of £350. But they do sound very nice.
that center speaker looks quality though I would be probly better off doing something like this since I really dont need the subwoofer i only bought this one last year

Not a question of how important the dialogue is (it's obviously VERY important), it's a question of the required specifications for the reproduction, which are considerably lower than the front and sub, and possibly even the rears?.
Disagree totally.
The centre reproduces the majority of the soundtrack, it not only pins dialogue to the screen but everything else you see, the main left/right and rear speakers are effectively f/x speakers. Having a weak centre speaker mixed in with much stronger fronts, even surrounds will ruin the sound field- a miss matched center speaker will easily stand out as soon a you hear panning affects.
Ideally all speakers need to be from the same manufacturer and all the same model, this will make sure they will all sound the same.
DD5.1/DTS and HD audio are full range discrete audio formats, each channel is identical in what it can output, why would you place a weaker speaker in the mix, or think one speaker is the weaker component.
If anything the speakers with the lowest requirements are the rears. That is the area where someone on a tight budget might shave a few pennies off the cost. Certainly not the fronts or centre.
If you take a dialogue-based film, such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, I would say the Center speaker probably does over 80% of the work.
Would absolutely agree with this.
The centre speaker is absolutely vital to the setup, and a weak centre speaker ruins everything. It is the speaker I notice most if a setup has a tonal character not to my liking.
Have you calibrated the system, either by auto setup or manually?
Having the speaker levels, distances and delays setup correctly is most important if you want a well balanced system and one that sounds realistic.
I think so yeah used the sound calibrator thing that comes with the Yamaha receiver
I'd be inclined to run it again just to make sure none of the settings have been altered.
See how it sounds, if you are still not happy then I'd probably look at a new speaker package over just replacing a single speaker.

I just have to wait for my online store to get them in stock again which should be soon hopefully
cant wait to ditch the Samsung speakers:D
overall I should get everything for 400euros
Why do so many people mistype this? Is it predictive text from phones or something?
i got the spell check error and picked what i thought was the right one obviously not lol
I knew it had to be something like that, this does seem to be the most common typo after the obvious your, you're, there, their etc that are maybe not typos but genuine misspellings.:)
I have a Teac ADG200 its a cheap amp but does seem to have quite a bit of power.
also have an epos els for sub.
The TEAC is fundamentally the same amp as the Onkyo 313, and I have the the Onkyo 414 (similar to the 313 but with "smart" additions) and complete set of KEF Cresta speakers that the SP3322 comes from.
It's a good combination -- they seem to work well with one another.
A muffled sounding centre speaker will stand out if the mains and surrounds are more accurate or larger etc etc.
For me dialogue needs a quality speaker.
My KEF sp3322 is all set up now.
I must say it seems a very high quality well built speaker and heavy to.
Much better than the crappy JVC ones it replaceed and before that the Sony's.
