Dvd extras?

Question.

After watching a dvd do you go straight to the extras and watch them?

I hardly ever watch dvd extras and what i have seen of some i class as just filler anyway.

If the answer is yes, which movies have the best extras, then maybe i will check them out.:)

I listen to the commentaries sometimes but I never bother with any of the other stuff.

Sometimes yes, it depends on the time. I like watching deleted scenes and out takes especially on comedy films.

What is a 'gag reel' that seems to appear on movie DVD's now?

I do if it's a film I really like. I like listening to the commentaries on my favourite films and seeing the making of documentaries.

Outtakes of the actors messing up lines etc. They can be fun to watch sometimes.

I love the special features as I like knowing what goes behind the scenes of a film.

If I've never seen the film, I'll watch it first, then the extended/deleted scenes, then the outtakes. I never bother with anything else. If I've seen it before, I'll watch the extended stuff and the outtakes, then the film. If it's a TV boxset, I'll watch the making of documentary if it has one as well, before watching the episodes.

I've never listened to a directors/cast & crew commentary in my life.

I'll often sit through the extras on DVD's/Blu Rays, have listened to a few commentaries, mostly on TV boxsets though. I was disappointed on Avengers Assemble that we didn't get a commentary - as Joss' on TV shows are always worth a listen.

I did watch Watchmen with all the in movie experience and that was great - but there's no way I'd want to do to that every time.

watch the film with the subtitles, and listen to trhe commentary

I think the best 2 commentaries I have heard are these, (and the worst was on Harry Brown)

    Rambo (the latest)
    Topsy Turvy

Sometimes watching the features before the film is never good as it can give away spoilers. Especially on Tv boxsets.

I can usually take or leave the extras on a
DVD.The exception was the Extended Editions
of the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy.
The extras are on two discs per film, and run
at around seven hours! Including video diaries
by the actors,'making of' docs and tons of other
stuff.I watched the films a few times when I got
them, but have also watched the 'extras' as many
times too! Incredible value, providing of course
that you are into the films to start with!

    Depends on the film

It depends on the film/series. eg When I re-watch Robin of Sherwood, I also always rewatch all of the extras, too. All the interviews with the cast, the bloopers etc. It adds to the experience.

I seldom watch them. I have enjoyed the Doctor Who ones.
