Region A1 Blu Ray won't play in my UK multi-region - why?

I've got a problem. I bought the region A/1 import of From Beyond from the US (I'm in the UK) and I'm getting Invalid Region when I try to play it.

I've imported literally a hundred movies from the US and I've never seen this message before.

Can anyone shine any light on why. I thought my BR player would play everything, but it seems not to like this movie. I'm guessing it's something to do with the complexities of something, but I've no idea what.

Thanks in advance :)

Looks to be region locked - see tab "region coding".

Unless your player had been modified for multi region BD playback it will not play region locked titles.

Thanks. That's useful. I guess some movies really are region locked (although never seen one before).

Is there any way to get a player that WILL play region-locked movies like this? I could do with a new player anyway!

You have been very lucky not to have come across a locked title before now. Bluray.com is a good source to double check titles before you buy.

For multiregion players which include bluray and DVD I can recommend multiregionmagic as I have used them in the past.

Thanks so much for this. A bunch of movies with not a problem and then TWO in the same day. Gutted. Can't believe it!

Definitely need to upgrade. Thanks again :)

Did you install any firmware updates onto this Blu-Ray player? If you did, then maybe that might have enabled some region restrictions. :(
