Galvatron - a clue, or this year's Rory's Badge? (Final scene of The Crimson Horror)

So, something bugged me in the final scene of The Crimson Horror.
The Doctor returns Clara to 2013 so she can go to do her nanny duties. When she walks through the door and into the kitchen, on the work surface she is intrigued by a Transformer toy - Galvatron - which has been left lying around. Then she gets distracted by the laptop.
The toy is in immaculate condition.
Here's the thing - that toy was released after Transformers: The Movie, which came out in 1986 (I know I got one that year for Christmas). Therefore that toy is around 27 years old. And also not something a modern day teenager would own, let alone play with. Also, for it to be in that condition would make it exceptionally valuable for something to just be knocking around the house.
So, a timey-whmey clue, or a bizarre choce of prop that wasn't thought through properly....?

Not timey wimey but nor was it poorly thought through. It was just a toy. It worked in the scene. Isn't that it?
There is an almost immaculate condition Sword of Omens lying around my nephews playroom at this very moment. He isn't a time traveller. There is no anomaly or crack in time. It got handed down to him.
i have several of those toys in mint condition without the box they are worth hardly anything as millions were made and even in the box mint they are only worth around £50 which is around what they cost back then.
99% of the people watching didn't know this I would wager.
Great knowledge though!
I might be (hence the mention of The Badge) - but it's not a toy that's easily available these days and certainly not in that condition. It's an odd one for it to turn up on TV these days, which means it threw me out of the scene. But that's just my Transformer fan genes coming out. Fortunately, you don't get the same reacion from Who fans when something similiar doesn't sit right.
I wish my Galvatron was worth £50 these days...
Of course it's likely just a Crimson Fish...
Galvatron oh Galvatron, I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left Galvatron!

Never into the Transformers (hmmm, a clue as to Clara?) but apparently:
Usually the name is applied to the recreated form of Megatron, the Decepticon leader
Actually JLC is so stiff she would be difficult to transform into much of anything.
Megatron was mortally wounded in his final battle with Optimus Prime at Autobot City in 2005. After his dying body was evacuated by his troops, his devious second-in-command, Starscream, threw him out into space, barely alive.
Megatron was found by Unicron, a planet-devouring Transformer and rebuilt and resurrected as Galvatron, on the condition he lead the Decepticons to destroy the Matrix, as this was the only thing that could stop Unicron from destroying Cybertron, the Transformers home world.
It was later revealed Unicron was the Transformers version of the Devil, while Primus, their god, who had waged a war with Unicron for millenia, became Cybertron itself.
Not sure if that's relevant, but that's your quick history lesson.
You are Peter Griffin and I claim my ten pounds.
Actually, it would have to have/be in the original packaging for it to be worth that much.
Sour experience for my brother, I can tell you (we both collected hundreds of Transformer toys in our childhoods, about 20 years ago). You don't get much for unpackaged toys.
Now that was when they knew how to make decent Transformers movies!
... and then there was the reveal at the end that it had been a reference to his sledge all along?
Surely then he would have said something more like "Galvatron>Galveston>Jimmy Webb>Web of Fear> ... hey, remember that time that it turned out that everyone on Gilligan's Island was gay? It was when I president but my campaign manager was Mr. Ed. Or that time when I was in Hogan's Heroes but, ummm, everyone was gay?" before segueing into the 30th Star Wars parody of the year.
The question would be are there other similar items in other episodes.
If there are then it would be a valid clue that the world we are seeing is false.
The only false world I can think of is the one from Silence in the Library!?
Wouldn't that be a cool twist? How much of what we are seeing is false? All of it?
Which I guess I am seeing as I mentioned it.
Might be a subtle fanboy regeneration hint?

I am probably the only person here who knows TF:TM line by line perfect ..owing to it coming to me in my childhood at the right time that nostalgia completely dominated me when older.
I had the Galvatron toy and loved it for ages.. Shame like with most toys I 'transformed' it into junk.
Thanks for the thread OP as I am rarely as eagle-eyed as that.
lol loved your quote my kids can still quote every line and my oldest still has a tear in his eyes as OP dies sorry if thats a spoiler lol i am often described as having the largest collection of transformers in the uk, sadly not boxed but a massive collection that caused a divorce lol
That's quite a good shout actually. Obviously the differences are legion for geek purposes but as a gentle nod and wink to the next episode using a Transformer could be seen as a reference to Cybermen...robots basically.
You're welcome.
