will britney spears ever get a uk number one album?
I think that its hard to believe that one of the biggest pop stars of the last 14 years has never had a number 1 album in the UK..but less successful artist's eg.Mariana and the diamonds,Diana vickers do..do u think that she will ever get a number 1 album or are the days of her being a top star like Rihanna, lady gaga are truly over?

I think she can definitely become a star again but she will have to promote, something she isn't really a fan of lately. Obviously she will never be as big as she once was though. The number album will depend on release week, who shes against, if she has a hit and if she's willing to promote.
Britney has been around for 14 years...she has a massive chance still...but the week of release depends on promo, hit(s), airplay and competition!
She has always had narrow misses on the albums chart and tbh has never truly broken out in the UK either....Me Against The Music, Toxic and Everytime were massive here and EUrope but were underwhelming commercial successes in her hom country however....so it shows that she can achieve something massive hear if she wants to...BUT wirth the Circus and FF era you can tell she jumped on the American version of ELectropop/Dub Pop brigade of recent years and thus didnt achieve massive success over here...because its been and done
So with good material, hits, a good week, she can achieve something great and get herself her first number 1 album in the UK
I thought Bon Jovi beat him to the top spot over there???
Did they??? i thought i read he made it...nevermind....
Well in that case....number ones definitely do not measure worth when the impact is also there Lesson learnt
She really needs to put in some work if she ever wants a big UK hit again though. FF failed over here mainly due to lack of promotion. Nobody can sell records by name alone anymore (Madonna proved that with MDNA!), so if she wants a decent seller, she needs to put in the effort.
that is indeed what its about!
although saying that MDNA has outsold Britneys and Beyonces latest efforts...so kudos but still its proof that promo, radio airplay, televised marketing, firing all cylinders and for the public to warm to something provides a chance of a number 1 album.....but damn FF did sell a lot more for a number 8 placing than a lot of albums that did get to number 1 the past few years...i mean Marina & The DIaminds debut was just over 20,000 last year! And RIhanna got TTT to re-enter at pole position with 9,000.....its THAT easy! its just a question of....will the week be busy? In which case Britney always has had back luck with that.
But as you say in the long term Britneys commercial sales justify themselves... ITZ went Platinum in the UKdespite missing the top 10 due to hit singles flowing from the album.
I blame her management releasing oops in the same week as Whitney's first GH not the sharpest move or Blackout in the same week as The Eagles first new studio in years it's asking for a #2 really
she needs to come over here and promote like she did in the days of totp & cd:uk i'm sure the talk shows would want her.
if she did jonathan ross, graham norton or alan carr.
so true i think during promo for Femme Fatale she streched herelf to This Morning and Loose Women two daytimes.....
Britney's most critically acclaimed album Blackout was released right after her meltdown.
All Britney needs to do is book a few interviews (not Loose bloody Women or Day break...that isnt her target market) do a special interview with Norton, get Wossy on board and perform too, have banter with Alan Carr...in fact why not space out al lthree of them??? Kylie had done it before for an album campaign why not Britney?
Plus of course if album 8 is out late this year like P!nks was last year...utilise BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to show off a bit...do a BBC Radio 1 special....plus there will be other events in the Winter and all to justify it
Also tbh Britney only really had ONE genuinely "great" album before her meltdown anyways with the In The Zone album...Post-Meltdown she has made two with Blackout and Femme Fatale....and while i dislike it even Circus has had some commercial/critical success too So its all there for Britney
the circus & if u seek amy are the 2 worst singles she's ever released that didn't help if only britney for the record had been shown on bbc1 like beyonce's documentary.
i wanna go is a great song should have been a big hit.
