I dunno...this has promise...if the rest of the movie looks this good, may not be so bad.

Although it doesn't look especially bad......it also doesn't look especially good. Its an overhead shot of a street with fires burning - it shows nothing.

I don't really understand how you can pass comment on it and what it could promise.
Not trying to be difficult - i just don't see that it gives you (the viewer) anything to go on.

Is there really any need for a remake though? I thought the original was a classic!

    Misery?
    Dolores Claiborne?
    The Shawshank Redemption?
    The Green Mile?
    Carrie (original)?

But how do we define doing them justice?

Allowing the film-maker(s) to interpret the material as they see fit, and creating a film from it rather than of it, so to speak.

Or, as some readers seem to want, just an obedient visual transcription of every idea/plot point etc?

I'm cautiously looking forward to it. I think as long as I don't compare it to the Brian de Palmer classic (which will be hard, as that's one of my favourite films) I will be able to enjoy it on its own merits. Chloë Grace Moretz is a good actress, at least.
