How about we put down the little ***** that running those poor horses into the ground. can't stand this bullshit.
I love this girl and knew she was passionate about horses and animals, however I have never heard her swear. That isn't normal for Leona.
I think I love her even more now.:D:rolleyes:;)

It's just pure cruel now. I hate it.
Who is going to look after the hundreds of thousands of highly-strung, highly-trained sporting racehorses...who then have not the purpose they were bred for for hundred of years? That can then not compete and be trained (providing industry jobs, etc)?
Will they all be able to be kept as pets in nice fields? How many extra police horses do we need in a cutback world? Maybe we could send them for showjumping because there's a huge call for overloading another specialist sport with yet more horses that are unnecessary. Not.
Or do you think if we 'ban' racing many more of them are going to be ending up in your packed salad or fish and chips because nobody can afford to keep animals with no income/professional future? Does anyone give any thought to that apart form me?
Just something to think about in the long term, which people seem to forget. Horse racing, paradoxically keeps these animals going for their long term future survival.
Its not cool.
They only get put down if they are badly injured. Most of them live out their lives in retirement.
In a nutshell, I strongly disagree with Leona's viewpoint for the simple fact on the numerous occasions the horses dismount their jockeys they continue to jump the fences, because the horses enjoy it.
What about those BIGGER jumps in the Olympics? Or making it prance about to music for entertainment in the Olympics? Why is the Grand National always singled out?
If they limited how many horses could take part I doubt there would be as many complaints. There are just too many horses competing. 30 horses trying to jump a 10 foot wide fence at the same time is cruelty as you know there are going to be injuries as a direct result.
Obvious difference - the people that go mountaineering choose to do it. Those animals get no choice. And they don't run because they enjoy it, they continue to run the race because they've been trained to run races, it wouldn't feel natural to 99% of them to just stop.
I still remember the horse from the Grand National last year who was visibly panicking before the race and clearly didn't want to take part, but he was forced - and he fell and was shot dead on the track.
Another "horse expert" talking manure.
Haven't you seen horses in a field sweetie? They gallop about. Its what they do.They are not born to sit in an armchair and make crass comments like some of us do.
PR boost - evens favourite
It's humans fault that we are in this mess now. We have got to the position where that is an argument. People who say things like "But they are made to run, so we have to keep horse racing" is absolutely ridiculous. There should be NO more breeding horses for running. It's totally pathetic. Horses die just about every year in the grand national on live tv, and are put down live on tv, it's not how things should be.
The Grand National is old-fashioned and cruel to horses. The Press and TV's obsession with it seems rather ghoulish this year.
Yeah, galloping around in a field, with other horses. Not stressed out by 30-40 other horses in the same race, all jumping over things in cramped conditions.
Each year we see panic from horses. There is always one that seems to be wanting to get AWAY from the race. How anyone can justify that is beyond me.
No, this is how she really feels, and I agree with her. Anyone who thinks that "horses were born to do this" is lying to themselves. This sport has no benefit for animals and innocent horses die for no reason. The whole thing is a mess. I'm glad she's standing up for her beliefs.
Why don't you vent your spleen on the poor neglected and ill treated horses left to starve by unscrupulous owners.
Not so glamorous perhaps
