I'm looking for a new phone. Not on contract as I don't like contracts or locked to a specific network, just a phone that I can use with my Pay As You Go 3 sim. I've had a HTC One X for nearly a year that I got second hand from Amazon and the battery is getting worse plus crashes a lot but it's lasted quite a while.
I'm not bothered if it's second hand just as long as it's in a very good state with no scratches like my One X which still looks new even though it is second hand and has been though loads.
I'm going for a price range of no more than £250 and Nokia, Huawei, ZTE, iPhone and Blackberry are all out of the question as their phones are useless.
So out of Samsung, HTC and Sony which of their phones are worth buying?

Haven't really got anything useful to say but I just laughed abit when I read that. "I don't want an iPhone" would have been sufficient
:eek:Ooh somebody is bit over protective of iPhones.
Sorry, but I prefer to stay away from Apple products. They're always the same and extremely dull plus iPhone's are the probably the worst thing ever.
Looks good but what is the battery life like?
Sure. I can't think of a single thing worse than an iPhone. Not one thing, they're so useless.
And no, its not about being "over protective", its about thinking that saying that is probably the most stupid thing ever.
Not about being protective its just your very childish way of saying you don't like iPhones that made me LOL abit.
If you want a plastic fantastic mobile phone then go ahead.
Normally I'd have said I prefer iPhones to Android phones, but seeing as we're back in primary school I choose to put it another way lol
Why though?
I've seen others make the similar claims before, but I've yet to see a valid reason as to why.
I'm no apple fanboy, but I do use an iPhone and I would really like to know what I'm supposed to be missing out on by not using a different brand?
Not really true unless you have the latest greatest phone. Even then you'll be lucky to get updates after a year or so. iPhones get updates for at least 3-4 years before they stop
Out of the current batch from the manufacturers above i'd be quite tempted to wait to see if you could get hold of a Google edition HTC ONE in the UK........
EDIT- oops £250 ......
Do they? That isn't my experience.
As the OP only wants to spend £250, those phones are outside their price bracket.
And you have the cheek to talk about being childish?!!
Funny though, as looking at my Nexus 4, its anything but plastic fantastic and in my opinion its better than any iphone i have had or used....
Yes, they do. At least the ones ive had have been supported for a good few years. The S2 namely still gets updates. The S3 is due to get updates for the next while as well. Many do.
Apple may update their phones but they leave features out and can leave the phone running like a dog. Not worth it really.
Xperia U didn't and neither did the Huawei G300 and the Motorola i Razr isn't either.
Other than that if you need more memory your probably better going for second hand, have a look at:
http://www.smartfonestore.com/
They have grade A phones which are like new from the ones I have seen. grade A s3 £219, LTE £239 grade c xperia z £249 etc
Sony seems a good make of phone.
Samaug seem to be another good phone with the S3 and the S3 mini.
I have been told HTC have improved them self with the HTC One. For I was sort of put of HTC after my last phone the Desire S as it suffered from signal drop outs now and again.
I have had the Nexus 4 just over 3 weeks now thats the phone that replace my Desire S and im loving the Nexus 4.

That's funny because my S3 still can't run Android 4.2 yet, and 4.3 is now just about to come out.
Meanwhile, my old iphone 4 will soon get updated to the latest version of iOS at the same time as more recent iphones.
Will my S3 get updated before the release of iOS, or even this year?
I have had 7 hours out of my Nexus 4 with just moderate use and battery still says 42% and thats texting and the odd short phone call and playing a game on my lunch break at work. At weekend if I go up town I listen to music on it while on the bus as well.
I tend to try and not let my Nexus 4 go below 50% battery before I put it on change. I also got a Philips bluetooth docking station from my last phone that I sometimes use with my Nexus 4 when im in house at the weekends.

Read the bit after that aswell.
Even with the shattered back?
Regular updates! It took 8 months for the OS update for my phone. Why mention apple, this is about android.
This is what I'm talking about. The S3 isn't even old yet you don't have the lastest version of Android. Lol
Not on my new one :D
Yeah, i agree that was out of order to be honest but it still got the update!
In fairness its only out a few days...
Who cares about the 4.3 update release schedule
