I've been watching a lot of Classic Who recently, and it's got me wondering - are there any monsters/aliens/creatures from the classic series for which we have no record of how they actually looked? I mean creatures which appeared in now missing serials who - for some reason - don't appear in telesnaps or photographs either?
If there are, surely these stories would be high on any "found episodes" wish list...

Missing episodes with no telesnaps existing
* "Marco Polo
"*episode 4
* "The Reign of Terror
"*episodes 4 & 5
* "Galaxy 4
"*- episodes 1-2 & 4
* "Mission to the Unknown
"
* "The Myth Makers
"*- all episodes
* "The Daleks' Master Plan
"*- episodes 1, 3-4, 6, 8-9 and 11-12. Twenty low quality and mostly very blurry images exist of "The Feast of Steven
" thanks to the amateur efforts of actor*Robert Jewell
*— a*Dalek operator
*who worked on*"The Daleks' Master Plan". But these aren't quite the same as telesnaps. Jewell was apparently just pointing his off-the-shelf camera at the television screen and clicking. Consequently, all are blurry to one degree or another, and in no way rival Cura's work.
* "The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's Eve
"*- all episodes
* "The Celestial Toymaker
"*episodes 1-3
* "The Invasion
"*episodes 1 & 4
* "The Space Pirates
"*episodes 1, 3-6Notes
* Although no telesnaps are known to exist from*"Marco Polo"*episode 4, contemporary BBC documentation indicates they*"were"*taken.

I hope this helps towards finding an answer as it is an interesting question.
ps, I did this on my phone so apologise in advance if it is a mess
IIRC the only monsters with no visual record at all, not even photographs, are all from The Daleks' Masterplan. The bird-like Screamers from part 3, and the visible forms of the Visians from part 6. Also the production team made changes to the casting and appearance of some of the alien delegates for parts 8 and 11, and we don't know exactly what they ended up like,
There's an off-screen photo that's technically of one of the Screamers of Desperus - unfortunately, it was taken at exactly the wrong moment and it's just a blur! So we still don't know what they look like.
There's also a pretty major character from The Space Pirates, Dom Issigri, that we've got no real idea of what he looks like.
There is an off screen photo of a Visian being exterminated (although it's possibly from a recon) - do a Google image search for Visian Doctor Who to find it.
Most TV programmes, certainly dramas, would normally have had extensive photographs taken on set for continuity reference reasons if nothing else, so I can only assume that for some episodes these were not kept for some reason.
That would be here. Surely from a recon, but the recon's source may or may not be authentic.

Well, at least that's something. Thanks.
Do a google pic search & you will see they look pretty good (spooky).
Maybe it's just me but for some reason I'd love to see this story return. It was set on modern day earth, from the 2 episodes surviving appeared to have real potential, was a bit like an Avengers episode & was written by Malcolm Hulke -one of the best writers of the original series. Fingers crossed on that one.
It's amazing really that there are still some, just a few, monsters that we have no visual record of. I wonder if there are any design sketches of Visians and Screamers?
And has it ever been conclusively proved which of the alien delegates from MTTU / DMP are which? Do we actually know which one is Celation, and which one is Beaus etc?
Before the telesnaps turned up in 1992, there was no known photo beyond the hand and back of the head shot at the end of episode three of The Faceless Ones.
The Rills had nothing for a long time, I don't remember when their two photos turned up.
We've always been sure of Malpha (cracked face guy in the white spacesuit), Trantis (bloke with spines on his face and no arms), Celation (because we knew what he looked like because we didn't know what he looked like, he wasn't in Mission to the Unknown, but he's the guy with the spots) and Zephon (he's in a publicity photo alongside Mavik Chen).
However, it wasn't until Day of Armageddon turned up that we realised we'd got everything else wrong and everybody had changed appearance! We know that Sentreal and Warrien are in MttU but not in DoA, so they must be the big Christmas tree bloke and the other guy in the white spacesuit with the big hat, but that meant that the eggheaded bloke with no face, formerly known as Sentreal, must be Gearon...
It was all very confusing!
We have problems that fans of a lot of other shows don't! Maybe that adversity is what makes us so fierce in whatever each of us sees as protecting the show.
The actual model still exists for that one, I think.
Nice one - thanks!
Here's a photo of the model - looks a bit spindly TBH...

If you want to watch the recon based on the original model, it starts here.
Or to skip straight to the horse, go here.
Thanks. I'll take a look when I'm not at work
Speaking of The Myth Makers, there's another character we've got no images of - Meneleus.
There weren't any known photos of Cassandra for a long time, either.
When moving around they wear purple fur coats, otherwise they couldn't see each other, either !

Dr Who then disguises himself as a Spiridon, by wearing a purple fur coat. Which is really cool hip and trippy, daddyo, and slightly more fashionable than than his usual Austin Powers frilly shirt ........

One of the joys of being a DW fan is that there are so many mysteries that remain to be resolved. How boring it must be to be a Star Trek fan, and be able to pick any one of a zillion episodes of your shelf at any time. I love being able to listen to soundtrack CDs of old DW and wonder "what if what if what if" ... and then the thrill of last week's announcement brings everything to,life once again.
The Rill photos were a big deal, a few years back.
DWM did a little article when Day of Armageddon appeared, showing the change in appearance of each of the delegates from one episode to the next. Only DW could do that.
They did.
And don't forget Chicki in The Macra Terror: two different scenes, two different actresses.
There's now about two pics of Cassandra, one with her lurking by the Tardis as Vicki and Troilus emote (I think). Lovely to see Miss Flood looking so melodramatic.
I am sure there must have been costume designs, set designs, floorplans, etc, but these things aren't necessarily kept once they've been used. Dom Issigri's room, in the Space Pirates, is another one lost to memory: no photos or drawings remain.
This is one oft he reasons why DW is so special. All this extra stuff waiting to be discovered.
