I want to take caps off you tube,
by pausing the movie and taking a pic,
pref of the small 6 x4 rectangle of you tube.
Ive got pixlr grabber that will adjust
size to the rectangle but the caps are coming out black.
Is there any other software that will do the job ?

thanks, but gadwin looks like only a 30 day trial .

My pixlr grabber... embedded in fire fox used to work, I could pause a u tube vid and then put the pixlr over the pic and s ave
I do that now and just get a black jpeg file.

Looks like the only alternative is to freeze the u tube vid ..
hit prt screen button top right of keyboard
then paste that into irfan view
get the j peg file ...
    open that in xn view
    clip the pic to size
    and save.

Why complicate things with more software?

Windows Snipping Tool as suggested in #2 above does a perfectly acceptable job.

As does Print Screen and pasting into MS Paint. Really don't understand why anyone would bother to install additional software to do something that's been covered so well for years in the OS. Seems mental to me, but each to their own.

The OP is trying to get a screen-cap of a video, which these inbuilt tools were not really designed for.

They might work in some instances, but not in others. I certainly have had problems in the past getting stills from a flash video.

Gadwin is very useful.... now when I hit pr scr key
a window comes up and I can save the screen capture and
    put a title on it
It saves all that cut and paste messing about.

The files saved are massive bitmap files,... 3.5 meg !!!
but I can easily batch convert them into jpegs.

Open the browser full screen, start the YouTube video. Then press Shift/PrtScn at the required Open Paint and paste the screen image in. Then edit as you want.

edit - oops sorry see this has already been said. However I use this method a lot for some sports training screen shots at our local club.

get Gadwin and then as soon as you hit pr sc key a window comes up and you save your screen cap to documents, it saves all that cut and paste .

Glad you took my advice re Gadwin printscreen ,An added bonus is that when you display the captured picture you can use the + sign to magnify it to the size you want then capture it agaain .

I began to feel a little spied on and deleted it .
