My limit is also £250 and I believe this is the limit on the card.
By the way, did you know that if you go to an ATM just before midnight you can withdraw £500 in two goes of £250 per go, one just before midnight and one just afterwards!
Ask your own bank, as they'll set the withdrawal limits.
With mine, the limit is £500 per day, but the information says it'll need to be done as two transactions as the cashpoints themselves limit each transaction to £250.
As others have said, the daily withdrawal limit is set by the card issuer and not the ATM. Most UK debit cards have a daily limit of £250 or £300, though some are higher. The ATM will however have a withdrawal limit of its own, in that it can only dispense a certain number of notes in one go. The bank I used to work for a few years ago had a limit of £400 on an individual withdrawal. This could be 40 x £10 (assuming £20s had run out) and any more notes than that could cause a jam and put the ATM out of action.
