Not a movie (but definately movie quality,) is the Game of Thrones soundtrack - especially the main title.

As an orchestral musician, lots of pieces from the Lord of the Rings are a hell of a lot of fun to play, so this would have to be among my favorites.
    The Mission - Ennio Morricone
    mimicole wrote: »
    Walk The Line
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End - Hans Zimmer

    All of the above, plus

    Zimmer and Gerard - Gladiator
    Bernstein - West Side Story
    Morricone - Cinema Paradiso

and pretty much anything by John Williams, but particularly Schindler's List.

    Slightly out of leftfield:

    The Rescuers Down Under

    Cody's Flight is particularly epic:

I'm watching Trainspotting just now and had forgotten how good the soundtrack is, possibly because it remonds me of being 19. :D

Gladiator. It totally makes the film. I drove along Hadrian's Wall with it on and I remember crying. So atmospheric.

Here are some of my favourites :-

    Taxi Driver
    Psycho
    North by Northwest
    Vertigo
Indiana Jones Theme(and special mention to the truck chase music from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark')
    Inception
On Her Majesty's Secret Service(the Bond march was superb in that)
American Graffiti(superb rock and roll songs in its soundtrack)
    The Godfather
    The Third Man
    1492 : Conquest of Paradise
    Chariots of Fire
    The Long Good Friday
Cabaret(for its musical songs - 'Money', 'Cabaret', 'Tomorrow Belongs To Me', etc.)
    Get Carter(original film)
    Lawrence of Arabia
Pulp Fiction(the main theme tune and Dusty Springfield's 'Son of a Preacher Man' are used well in that film)
    Reservoir Dogs
Goldeneye(I liked the reworked Bond theme and Tina Turner's song)

Aside from Russell Crowes shaky vocals, I am really liking the Les Mis soundtrack

Best one for songs in a musical is Calamity Jane............

Best orchestral score and incidental music is Morricone's score for Once Upon A Time in The West

Erich Wolfgang Korngold; Max Steiner; Franz Waxman were the pioneers of film music during the 1930s and 1940s. Heavily influenced by Richard Wagner and Gustav Mahler, they produced between them some of the finest film scores ever composed such as:

    The Sea Hawk
    Adventures of Robin Hood
    Elizabeth and Essex
    Now Voyager
    Gone With The Wind
    Casablanca
    Bride of Frankenstein

The later composers such as Elmer Berstein; John Williams; John Barry and Ennio Morricone just to mention a few owe these pioneers a great debt. Without their influence we would not have the popular film scores today which enhance the film experience.

Thanks for reminding me of The Sea Hawk, one of my favourites.

A tearjerking one is Somewhere in Time by John Barry.

Somewhere in Time is one of John Barry's wonderful scores. It is also a very good film too, a real tearjerker.
