"A police officer involved in Operation Yewtree will be a contestant in Big Brother"

If true it appears they have left the MET so I don't see a problem with it, and I am sure nothing will be said that shouldnt be and certainly not broadcast. No different to MWT being on TV .

Any older contestants must be starting to panic. ;)

The officer wouldn't actually be able to talk about Yewtree much anyway, so I doubt there will be many secrets revealed.

If it does turn out to be true, even if the officer has left the police, it's the sort of thing that makes me hate and despair at the world.

Guido has the Lib Dem's "Rennard Report" online
    http://order-order.com/2013/06/12/rennard-report-in-full/

So despite all the work done in the 60s and 70s to open the door to females and gain equality we still have dinosaurs like Lord Rennard who use their power and position to intimidate females. This was just the sort of thing that I fought against all those years ago and I despair of anything changing. I don't think he actually had sex with any of the women but just did what men in the 60s and 70s did as a matter of course and touched inappropriately or made suggestions. I suppose the problem is that these women were ambitious and didn't want to miss out on future political careers otherwise they should have slapped his face.

I must say that The Star seems to need a lesson in police ranks, acording to them its a Top Police Officer and also decsribes them as a High Ranking Detective.

When in fact yes they have worked on Yewtree but are now a former Detective Constable , not exactly a top officer or high ranking as they put it.

Scotland Yard wrote to Channel 5 about the broadcaster's responsibility in connection with live investigations.

Channel 5 said procedures were in place to ensure that nothing problematic would be broadcast.

Isn't The Star and Channel 5 owned by Richmond Desmond who it is said made his money from pornographic magazines and television sex channels?

Clearly the C5 & the producers know only sad Big Brother addicts would seek entertainment out of child abuse.

I do wonder why the previous government didn't do this........ could it be because of those caught under Operation Ore - names protected under the 'D' notice that PM Tony Blair issued....

Either way, this should have been years ago!!!!!

What a strange thing to say. The man will not be talking about his job and nor will he be committing acts of child abuse. If various tabloids hadn't published it no one would know that he was a policeman among many many others who have had a small role in operation yew tree.

Wake up and smell the coffee, wasn't it the official newspaper of Big Brother that drew attention to him? Didn't they claim he was a 'senior officer' who quit Operation Yewtree to be on BB?

Much of the media then picked up the Yewtree connection, if they'd just said gay former police officer there would be no hook for publicity.

How do you know he won't talk about his former job over the coming weeks?

It's the BB fans getting off on the thought he might let slip a name, forgetting the live feed isn't live and C5 would not broadcast it anyway...but if he was to talk about someone who is dead that might be a different kettle of fish.

If he did let something slip and it wasn't broadcast, what guarantee is there one of the housemates or production team wouldn't see it as a way to make some money by selling a story to the media?

All it'll take is for him to get pissed utter something about Yewtree and the entire operation will be wrecked!! Hundreds of lives ruined and alleged perverts will walk! Utterly reprehensible and CH5 should be brought to task for it. The producers are clearly idiots and therefore qualify, themselves, for BB

    +1 The BIB pretty much

He's no more of a risk than any other ex officer or staff member, or a serving one come to that. They all might say something to someone.

But in this case straight from Operation Yewtree to BB?

If someone's given intimate details of abuse and see that officer on BB seeking a media career, witnesses might find it disturbing that while they were talking to him he was thinking of an appearance on BB.

Well we don't actually know if he really was involved in Yewtree or whether thats just 'spin'. Certainly we don't know that he was involved in interviewing anyone. But again, people have rights and freedom to do what they want, even if that involves making a prat of themselves on reality tv, and that includes ex coppers.

I'm a big fan of old TOTP clips, particularly Pans People, and wanted to watch them performing a dance to Papa Was A Rolling Stone. As soon as I clicked on the Youtube link, I saw Savile appear and stopped the clip and I feel really revolted now and upset. I wish any of these old clips involving him could be deleted.

I find Savile as repulsive as the next person in light of the revelations, but come on now...

You've never heard of the 'D' notice?
It was issued around the time of the Iraq invasion.. March 2003).. (Google it - Operation ORE)
Believe it or not, but Operation ORE was massive, much bigger than Op Yewtree.....
