3 working days have passed now since i sent dvds back and they still havent sent me any new dvd's, which is just ridiculous as I've got over 60 titles in my selection.
It can't be the royal mail, as i already have one with blockbuster too, and they've sent me titles.
The turn around is appalling with lovefilm now, anyone got other suggestions, not blockbuster obv, and not screenselect either, had trouble with them in the past.

If you can get the discs watched and sent back quick enough you can sometimes get 15-20 titles a month - that can work out under £1 per disc, all without leaving your house (apart from to send them back !)
As for lovefilm getting on your t*ts....
I've found them to be awful over the past two months or so, after six months of them being brill....I wait ages for discs, they send me the last 3 in my queue, I'm sure they purposely send my tv show discs in the wrong order, so I either have to watch them out of sequence, hold onto disc 2 of a set until I get disc 1 or think of more , ahem, creative ways to get past this problem....
And don't get me started on Battlestar Galactica....I've now tried to rent disc 1 of the original series 4 times now and each time they've send me a different disc....... !!
They have recently undertaken a big email promotion on 3 months for the price of 1, which I think has been very sucessful, ie. 3 months for only £13.95 + the first 50 that signed up got a free DVD Player (anybody been lucky enough to 'win' one of these?)
On a plus side for them, they tend to send new releases out quickly (ie. titles from the top of your list), something that Screen Select never seemed to do.

An ad for blockbuster! lol
I think it might be my comp though with spy/ad ware on.
Seemingly they are offering a incentive to cancelled members to get them back, something like 2 months free. Thats all very well but if it leads to slower mail and current members leaving what have they achieved?
It better improve soon.
I was with screen select up until recently but I had even more hassle with them, whenever I sent a DVD back, they would get it next day but still take 3 days to send out a new one.
I am with Blockbuster at the moment and so far they seem ok as they sent me the first 3 items on my rental list.
we sent 1 film back on monday, and friday it was took off our list of films we have out.
maybe it`s cause they now run so many companies, it`s ok whsmith/sainsburysdvdrental/lastminute.com and a few others, saying they rent dvd`s but THEY don`t lovefilm do for them.
so the more companies lovefilm let there stock out to, the WORSE there going to get,
I went for this, but the delivery has thusfar been OK. (Didin't get a DVD Player AFAIK )
I always prefered VideoIsland, but I think they got swallowed up (by ScreenSelect?).
now over the last fortnight, it's gone all pear shaped.........I am lucky if they recieve back a DVD I post back to them.
I really dont know where the problem lies, is it Royal Mail or Love Film's fault ?
Screen Select went all shite when they merged with Video island, I was with them before love film, however whenever they recieved a DVD back, they took up to 3 days to post one out and even then it was from the very bottom of my priority list.
I have emailed them to ask what is causing the problems. I wondered if it was just me suffering at the moment but clearly with the number of posts on here something is up.
It should be simple. If they are prepared to offer their servcies to other companies ie CD-Wow then they must increase staff and increase stock likewise so as to leave their service still running as good as before. If they cant manage that then they have bitten of more than they can chew and and will suffer along with many of us accordingly.
Which local store do you work for?
My advice is cancel, within a few days, they will offer you 3 months for the price of 1.
Also, I recently joined http://mailboxmovies.dvds365.com/ and they provide a great service
i totally agree, i mean why should we pay £13.99 a month to rent around 20 films in that time, when we could go to a local store, and rent a dvd for £3 ago so for the same price we get to watch 5-6 a month? we really must be mad!!
as for "local" store... hmm our nearest LOCAL is over 2miles away, our nearest postbox to send back my postal rentals, is about 1min walk away, so i know which my local store is.
and do real people work in these stores?? our "local" is staffed by McD rejects.
I'm with Mailbox/dvd365 too, and they've gone really badly downhill since the merge with dvd365, the turnaround is awful. So i think i'll be cancelling my mailbox account and staying with LoveFilm. Unless mailbox offer me something to stay. :-D
As for the argument of local over online rentals... i get my dvd's for a 1/3rd of the price of going in a shop, i can keep them as long as i want, and i don't have to deal with a spotty, rebok-clad oik behind the counter, who can barely string a sentence together.
As for those of you who complain you have a 'DVD Superstore' staffed by Mc D rejects it could be that 5 years ago you all abandoned the local film enthusist who owned his store & whored yourselves to BB,Choces ect..so serves you right!!!
Think we can safely say this is why the members that have stayed loyal are suffering at the moment.
This is a discussion about Lovefilm. If I wanted to use my local, I would, but since it smells of piss, I'm never going too.
My nearest rental shop closed down a year or so ago. People posted on the local community web site that they weren't surprised as every time they went in there the place stank of weed. So probably not the customers' fault.
The next nearest (15 minutes walk) is a high street Blockbuster. It started out massive, then sold off half the premises to a hairdressers (!) and dramatically reduced the range. Nowadays they stock a very limited selection and if you don't want the latest titles you may as well not bother. Not much fun for the real film enthusiast either - and probably not the customers fault' either.
Sadly, I doubt DVD rental stores make enough to pay the rent. Especially if the staff are spending the profits on drugs.
lovefilm have only had a 2 day turnaround once for me lately otherwise its one day back, next day another title
I guess it depends on how far away from them you live - its based in Harlow and I'm in Chelmsford so I would expect me to get them before someone say in Manchester
I can sympathise as my Dad owned a video shop til he was pushed out by Blockbusters and Choices - the other independent traders in the town went the same way too.
I'm now using screen select for a free trial - I'll think I just use them and lovefilm as long as it suits me, but frankly you only get what you pay for!
