It's covered in Part M of the Building Regulations.

Info can be found on Page 35, clause 3.14.
It may also be covered in Part B (fire escape widths), but the width would depend on the size of the shop.
Thank you ThinBoy for being helpful
Or a new Dad!
I was in a shop last week pushing babies Scott in their Bill and Teds buggy. On getting out of the lift, I found my path blocked by a stupidly placed display unit. I simply stopped the buggy and shoved it out of the way myself.
Mothercare are one of the worst for small crammed aisles!
Well our shop would fail, because there is no way we could make it any wider!
This was a Monsoon, possibly the smallest Monsoon in the UK!
I couldn't get near the changing room either to give my expert opinion on the stuff Mrs S was trying on
I can walk very slowly and only for short distance before the pain in my back and left leg get so bad that I have to stop and rest.
It can take me from ½ an hour to over an hour to walk the ¼ of a mile from my house to the shops in the small town where I live.
When I go to the shops in Cambridge I need to use a shop mobility scooter to get around. As so many of the big name shops make it very difficult to get around with out knocking over display’s I thought would be a good idea to try and find out what the law is so that when I ask them to move something I can tell them why?
lol.. think I'm going to be a bit more carefree when in shops now.
