I'd rather not, but each to his own.

The same reason you make jingoistic accusations that don't align with the facts, studies and statistics on record: because what you think doesn't make it true.

Read that and educate yourself so your opinions will be better informed.

Also, feel free to note all of these people appear to be American.

I know what's happened, OP! You've found yourself a nice American granny as a girlfriend, and now you feel the need to extol the virtues of American senior womanhood.
    Bless.

Does she let you play her Howard Keel records?

Which "American old people" are you talking about? The morbidly obese ones, or the ones that have had so much work done on their face they don't resemble themselves at all anymore?

I guess so. She spends all those evenings blessing his beautiful hide.

Maybe we want to grow old gracefully :D

If you don't 'let yourself go' you'll get called 'mutton dressed as lamb', it's a lose/lose situation.

Letting yourself go = cheaper and more fun :D:D

Maybe you have to be healthy to get to old age over there.

C'mon, give us an example. Which American old dears are you letching over at the moment? Stevie Nicks, Emmylou Harris, Tina Turner?

Have you seen enough old people in normal settings in America to constitute a representative sample?

(seeing old people on TV, or in "tourist" areas doesn't count).

Perhaps some people just feel more comfortable being themselves and don't want to put on a show for others.

Switch Brits with Yanks and you could ask the question here every day.

Years ago when I went to Florida I thought a lot of the old people looked badly dressed, unhealthy and doddery and had dough like or overly sunburnt complexions - when I came home I noticed people were perkier and more fresh faced in general.( I also noticed after listening to annoying loud American children listening to ours was like listening to a lot of little birds twittering)

Fear not countrymen and women ... this seems to be Friday's theme where we are treated to extra doses of Broken Britain.

Also don't fret because as you can see any risible and uncomplimentary thread about Britain (especially when comparing us unfavourablly with our cousins across the sea ... the scoundrels!) invariably morphs into an orgy of shitting on the Americans. Not that we ever need a reason to do that on DS.

I don't believe Brits have let themselves go. Furthermore, Britain is not an urban wasteland. Comparing with how Britain was during the Georgian and Victorian eras, we're living a pretty good life.

OP, have you seen Southern European pensioners?

I've spent a lot of time in Italy, and outside of the cities (especially in Southern Italy), age hits a lot of the residents very hard. Med diet or no Med diet, gravity takes it's toll on both the men and the women- the figure gets bigger, the skin gets droopier, the hair gets patchier. Sophia Loren is the exception and not the rule.

But that's just the aging process- it's the same the whole world over.

Although it is Friday on DS so perhaps not surprising :p

I bet American trannies are better than British ones too.

I know... American ones must own a lot more pairs of elasticated waist trousers than those here.

What a pointless, silly thread
