Wow, i only saw this movie today, nearly twenty years after its release, and it is truly brilliant. Dead pan humour and satirical genius at times. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer are ideal in it. Lloyd Bridges has some great lines too.

Hot Shots part deux is on tonight, so ill watch that to see if it is as good as the 1st.

Spoof-tastic riggggghhhht?

Yep, have to agree, Hot Shots Part Deux is funnier.

Reading the OP makes me jealous that they are going to get to see it for the first time.

Yeah, me too. I remember watching it once under the influence and nearly having a heart attack :D

Edit: That doesn't sound like a recommendation, does it? :)

I still love the films and I agree that number 2 is better. Ryan Stiles was a great cast and the last half an hour is legendary.

The black limo driver scene is still hilarious.

Preferred the first one myself, but both very funny.

"At dawn tomorrow we attack the enemy toast"

"err, I think that's coast, sir"

"What? Oh well, will require a little more planning but it doesn't matter"

    :D

    Did they cut it?

I didn't see the scene where they land in the boat and somebody sees the fake beauty spot laying in the dirt.

part duex was brilliant and loved watching it on sky movies every night in 1996/1997.

    classic lines

    Topper "why me?
Huddlestone "because your the best of the best of the best thats left"

    and

who could forget the fact that part duex was the bloodiest film ever :)

The bit where the guy is reaching through the bars to get the keys cracks me up every time. :D

The funniest part of the sequel (IMO) is how amusingly obvious it is that Charlie Sheen has pumped himself full of steroids.

The blu-ray versions of both films, out on 8th July, is the first time they've had uncut releases in the UK, the bbfc have previously always taken 22 seconds out of the home release of the first one and heavily cut part deux.

What was cut from Part Deux?

    'What are you reading?'
    'Great Expectations'
    'Is it any good?
'It's not what I hoped for..'

    and....

There's a couple of lines missing from part 1 in most cuts. There's also a substitution of "bloody" for "f**king" in one of the subtitles.

The Region 2 DVD of Part Deux cut the whole (funny) sex scene with Michelle. The VHS release previously had it, although still cut the bit where they get back to the apartment and recreate the opening of Basic Instinct. A couple of lines have also been cut and a bit with nunchakus (which the BBFC have an unnatural hatred of).

Both films have at least 1 F word in them. I was surprised to see ITV show Hot Shots completely uncut one night a while ago, but when Channel 4 have showed it, they have used the (badly) censored version which they have made further edits to.

Outstanding movie. One of the last real parodies. These days parody movies just consist of random references to whatever fad exists in pop culture at the time.

UK blu-rays are the full uncut versions, both with 12 ratings.
