Samsung UE40EH5000 or TOSHIBA 40L1354B

Hi all,

I haven't bought a tv in years and would like a bit of advice.

I am looking for a 40"ish tv with the following;

Max £350
good picture quality (obviously!)
Full HD
Freeview HD
USB - play movies transferred from my computer
Decent sound
WIFI streaming from my computer would be nice but not a deal breaker

I don't want;

3D
Smart TV

I will mainly be watching Freeview TV, Movies from my computer and the odd game.

So far I have narrowed it down to the samsung UE40EH5000 or the Toshiba 40L1354B

Is one any better than the other? or are there better options out there?

Thanks

    The Samsung without doubt. Looking on Which? the 32 inch version was tested by them and it gets 4 star ratings across the board for picture quality (you won't get 5 stars at this price). They haven't tested that particular Toshiba but out of the 10 that have been tested 4 are Don't Buys and the remainder get very poor reviews.

    The Samsung gets a poor sound quality rating, but so do the majority of all thin TVs. Which? say this, " Sound is a bit less satisfactory. The tone can be grainy, over-bright and spoilt by sibilance, but the real issue is the bass, which thuds along in an aggressive manner. The smaller and slimmer the TV, the harder it is to get good sound out of it, but this is hardly Samsung's finest effort to do so."

    From the photo of the rear I suspect that Toshiba is actually a Vestel. Avoid!!!
