if new consoles are not backwards compatable will you not buy?
Im pretty pissed about backwards compatablity this gen
I have GTA vice+San andreas, buffy, code veronica ,silent hill etc lots of old games id like to play again but either have to wait till ps releases it on the store or the company does a HD remake. Which costs me more money for something i already bought 10 years ago
With this gen the games have been amazing with great storys that you could play again and again
If Ps4 does not have backwards compat to ps3 ill be majorly pissed having to buy these gens games again aswell its crazy
I know people will say just buya ps2 if you wanna play those games but imo it should be standard now to play all your games on 1 device

However since I'm starting to run out of space to put console's the next-gen been backwards compatible would be a help.
Without BC, I would be focusing on what games it was launching with. A new Killzone, something mouth watering from Sony Santa Monica and/or Naughty Dog along with Ridge Racer 8 (a proper RR, not like Unbounded) and I will pre-order it. If none of those are available at launch then I can hold off for a few months to clear my ever growing PS3 backlog.

Mark
Like GTA, resident evil then from this gen we will have
Uncharted 1-3 dead space 1-3 im sure will carry on into the next gen with there 4th entrys or whatever same goes for alot more games the new tomb raider if a sucess will be carrying on its second game on the new consoles therefore if backwards compat is not on the new consoles we wont be able to play them unless you keep your PS3 hanging around
If network games are not compatible it will probably effect my future purchasing of digital games a lot more than it will effect my chances of buying the next generation system.
In the digital era backward compatibly should be standard IMHO even if its done via the Cloud.
Cant remember the last time i played a PS2/Xbox game.
If not then i may just keep my 360.
I imagine they'll retain compatability for XBLA/PSN titles at least though. Otherwise they can kiss goodbye to any consumer support for digital distribution in the future.
BC is the main reason I bought the Wii U so early.
They're ditching the Cell components and going with traditional PC parts, which makes it almost impossible to run PS3 games that were based on the Cell architecture.
Rumour has it that PS3 games will be playable via streaming, or by using a plug-in component.
Have used my PS3 to play PS1 games a dozen times though.
Still plenty of old games out there which I want to play that I missed out on when they were new. I got Forbidden Siren 2, Metal Slug 4 & Syphon Filter The omega Strain for PS2 a few weeks ago.
I'm one of those that just moves on.... probably keep my current consoles for a while tho.
