Adobe Reader Updater (10.1.6) - no way to test if verifiable...?

Keep getting a pop up (bottom tool bar) to update Adobe Reader (I have some existing files on this). Usually there's a method to click on certificate to see if it's verifiable/O.K. The only thing it gives to click on (apart from install) are 'details'. This yields lots of info but no certificate. How do I find out if it's fake/virus or not?

edit: theres nothing wrong at all with being over cautious btw.
You can scan your PC with Malwarebytes (free) if you are concerned you have an infection.
(I have McAfee to check for viruses)
why on earth does updating acrobat reader require a restart?
I don't know. I've been using Foxit Reader for a long time now but still kept Adobe Reader on the system. But after one-too-many restarts I finally decided to ditch it completely.
Thanks.
Well if adobe reader doesn't require a restart/update, this confirms my suspicions!
What suspicions Amy ?
As whoever, hey said earlier if in doubt go to adobe and download the latest version. Better still get rid of Adobe and use Foxit reader which is lighter.
Whether you choose Adobe or Foxit don't forget the unwanted tool bars/add ons.
What unwanted toolbars/add-ons? I didn't see these in Foxit? Do you only get them if you do a brand new download as opposed to an update?
These ones, probably just on a new install.
No sorry i was moaning about acrobat reader requiring a restart.
The advice is sound to go to adobe and download it from there.
Ah yes, I probably would have been through that on first installation over a year ago and forgotten about it. I'm generally careful to untick such things.
k - do I need to do this though? Won't the legit new version (to update/install) come up as a pop up which allows you to check the details, i.e. that the certificate is O.K? The certificate check is always reliable isn't it or can that be faked too?
