    Most of the dongles are capable of faster speeds than typical phones are. The highest theoretical speed available (42.2mbps) isn't available on any commercially available phone in the UK as far as I know.

    As for USB, you'll probably find that most phones can't do speeds high enough to max out Wi-Fi.

    There's no artificial limit in place - you'll get the best speed available at the time.

    We have a Vodafone dongle at work. i ran a speed test and we currently get 1.6mb. Should we be getting better speeds. We are in sunderland city centre.

    Is there anyone on 3 living in South Wales? I have a three mobile broadband contract and I swear it is being throttled. Downloads at roughly dial up speed.

    There are so many different variables that speeds differ massively across the country. 1.6mb is at the lower end but certainly does not represent a problem.
    I just got 5.3Mbps on my iPad on 3 but I've hit just over 24Mbps in Colchester.
