Hi,
When I set up my daughters phone I used my google a/c when I first set up her access to google play. All my contacts have appeared on her phone, its not a problem as such, its just she doesn't want to go thru all my contacts to get to her friends. How do I unlink her phone from my google a/c?
Thanks Guys and Gals

I think that's just tablets isn't it ???
This is exactly what I did when I passed my One X on to my OH. After resetting it and adding her account, I then added my Google account in addition to hers, but in the account sync settings for my account, I unticked every Google service except Play Music - so she has access to our music through my account, but that is it.
Yep - I was forgetting that as the Cyanogenmod 4.3.1 custom ROM I flashed on my old Galaxy S phone has it (which beggars the question why Google have not enabled it for phones as yet). Only the device owner can make purchases through Google Play or in-app when another profile is set up as I understand it.
Whilst I can see why, with phones barely being used as phones these days, it would be handy to be able to share phones amongst users, I can understand Google's logic and can't think of a satisfactory, non-complex, non-kludgey solution. Unless CM4.3.1 nailed it?
I've had a little play and it appears Cyanogenmod's use of profiles is to allow you to define how the phone behaves (which connectivity options are allowed, SMS, calls, email, media etc.) so I'd imagine it's not the same as Google's user based affair? I guess you get set up a profile called, for example "Daughter" and disable data, SMS, calls, emails (or optionally make them generate notifications only). I think there's a YouTube video if you seach for the terms Cyanogenmod profiles explained (can't access it at work).
3G tablets are few and far between? Really? I've been offered (or gotten one) for free with just about every phone I've bought recently.
10.2 not 4.3.1. Apologies for being pedantic.
Friend of mine has a 7" Android tab of some sort (forgot the exact details) and she uses it as her main phone and texting device.
I thought it would be more useful to reference the Android version rather than the CM version due to the context. I accept your apology.
Okay, fair enough. I was thinking "normal" voice calls rather than VoIP, but I guess in principle it's the same thing.
I guess my question still remains, then - how is it handled under stock 4.2+ on a device that can take calls and texts?
While SIMs are usually associated with a person rather than a device (barring certain Apple US devices with soldered-in SIMs) don't really see the point of arbitrarily restricting it by the OS, the SIM PIN has traditionally been used to control access to SIM functions.
Stock Android devices already do maintain multiple sets of states according to what SIM is inserted into a device - particularly data usage, which is recorded on a per SIM basis, as are APNs and so on, not sure about text messages. Now a SIM has always been the individual access token for network services (rather than say, account/password) yet swapping multiple sims around in a shared device would be... awkward. Multi-SIM devices on the other hand or NLA without SIMs would be a interesting concept.
It is more confusing to talk about CM 4.3.1 as the threads on XDA etc talk about CM 10.2. However the sort of person who gets confused by things like that doesn't need to know in the first place.
