But be aware that there are different output ratings, and if you intend to use it for sat nav then you will be better off buying a 2amp or more rated charger. In fact the higher amp rating the better.
Don't worry about damaging the phone, it will only take as much ampage as it needs and no more.
My current in car charger is a cheap 1amp charger and as I have my phone (S3) on all day using sat nav, bluetooth and it's wi-fi tethering switched on then it's way below 50% by the time I get home.
