A sequel to Kick Ass has been announced and is due for release in 2012.
According to IMBD returning for the sequel are
Chloe Moretz ... Mindy Macready / Hit-Girl
Lyndsy Fonseca ... Katie Deauxma
Aaron Johnson ... Dave Lizewski / Kick-Ass
Christopher Mintz-Plasse ... Chris D'Amico / Mother ****er
Clark Duke ... Marty
Omari Hardwick ... Sergeant Marcus Williams (rumored)
Evan Peters ... Todd
It's interesting that there is a change in character. In the first Christopher Mintz played Red Mist but now he is called Mother ****er. I'm not sure what to make of that. It comes across as being an cheap way to get the word mother****er used a lot in a film.
Personally I would have prefered it if Kick-Ass wasn't in this film as IMO his story was told.

"According to Mark Millar (means a lot, I know), "Kick-Ass 2" has been officially greenlit.
Talking to BBC's Radio Five, Millar said (and thanks to Bleeding Cool and IO9 for the words) : ''The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales, you know, so it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment. So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to"
Considering "Kick-Ass" was lucky to score $100m, not to mention director Matthew Vaughn's commitment to "X-Men : First Class", the sequel to the 2010 flick is - despite what it's author says - a long ways off yet, I'd think."
i think it's far, far too early to judge how they're going to handle the motherf***er character as well.
the studio could well decide to just continue calling him red mist ..
I really enjoyed Kick Ass too, it was great, so I'm happy they're making a sequel.
It is very cheap and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't go through with that name if it was ever their intention.
I do however like the idea of him using another name instead of Red Mist. It kind of makes sense. Assuming that he is going to be the villain in the film then by changing his name he would be considered someone else. As he knows the identities of Kick-Ass and Hit Girl he would have an advantage over them.
Red Mist is a cool name though.
They did a similar thing in MacGruber, where a character's last name has the c-word in it.
my copy of Kick Ass came yesterday and have been enjoying it. Enjoyed it more at the cinema though - and its not as good 2nd time around.
got a steel book version - so pretty happy with that.
Good news
If they DO follow the storyline, then the final showdown is going to be absolutely mental!!
Err ... my point exactly
Movie No Chloe = Big Boy Barry No Likey

Don't think so.
