Considering that the trailers for each of these '...Movie' films just seems to be a series of unfunny parodies, this wasn't quite as bad as I'd expected. Of course it still was largely comprised of pointless gags but somehow I managed to watch it all the way through.
I spent much of the viewing wondering where I'd seen half the cast before. When the credits rolled, however, there were only two or three names that I recognised, so perhaps the it was just a very generic-looking cast!
I watched the first and best (Only?)
Die Hard last night! Superb film of
Roderick Thorpes novel,'Nothing
Lasts Forever' and Alan Rickman
has to be one of the all time great
villains in the role of Hans? 9/10
I know what you mean by only, none of the sequels ever captured the brilliance of the original 10/10
Taken - teenage bimbo is kidnapped in Paris but daddy happens to be Liam Neeson who has a particular set of skills that makes him a nightmare to the kind of people who kidnapped her.
Fast and furious action as Mr Neeson goes to work with an enthusiasm that makes Rambo look like a social worker. 8/10
a black and white film 'Yield to the Night' with Diana Dors and Yvonne Fletcher, about a woman condemned to hang for the murder of her lover's girlfriend..a really powerful and evocative film
I watched two strongly contrasting films
of 'fairy tales' the other night.
The first was 'Hansel and Gretel:Witch
Hunters'. Which was a piece of misbegotten
crap that should have died in the cutting room.
Two lead actors who have no actual acting
ability,a sorry mish mosh of a plot, and the
ability to take this crap seriously for most of
the time! I only lasted about fifteen minutes
to be honest,before bailing,as I have a life!
A very feeble and poor attempt at a film,2/10
But then I watched 'Snow White and the Huntsman'
and the difference was day and night! A tad slow
paced to be sure, but it held my attention. And any
film with Charlize Theron as the baddy has to be
worth a view,right?
Then the eight dwarves,(Yes that's right EIGHT
dwarves!) are full of familiar faces like Ian McShane,
Ray Winstone,Bob Hoskins,Toby Jones,Nick Frost,
Eddie Marsan etc...well you can't go far wrong with
that sort of line up can you?
A dark and brooding take on a familiar tale,8/10
a superb film, albert finney as the archetypal 'angry young man', brilliant with rachel roberts and shirley anne field
i must watch it again some time!:D
I'm 2/3 the way through Beautiful Creatures, and it really is crap compared to the book series of which I've just read the 3rd installment. I don't know if I will bother to watch the rest, but will try.
The characters, roles, and story have been cut-down, and changed drastically, and the whole production is lacking the magic of the novels.
4/10
I'm very disappointed in this film, it's too glossy, rushed, and sugary, with a large part of the plot, and a main character completely missed out (although some good acting). Nothing like what it could have been.
I'm eagerly awaiting book 4 of the Caster Chronicles, as that is outstanding. Shame about the mediocre movie.
I've belatedly realised that this film is on the whole series. So disappointed, as may have inadvertently read a spoiler when trying to find out if such by the way the film was going. Have cut short whilst waiting for the final book to arrive. Think the film makers should have made this clear.
A fail for me, and a major let-down, not something I'd normally say.

Funny, different to the other 2, and vastly better than the disapointing Hangover Part 2.

Rock of ages, love this movie.
Matthew Fox is decent, but everything else is just awful, especially
a superb film, albert finney as the archetypal 'angry young man', brilliant with rachel roberts and shirley anne field
i must watch it again some time!:D
