Jeremy Paxman forced to apologise for swearing AFTER the watershed

Why should Jeremy Paxman be forced to apologise for swearing after the watershed? link Why are more and more TV executives pandering to the namby pamby parade of politically correct zombies?

The BBC show adult themed comedies after 9pm which contain the worst swearwords imaginable, yet the namby pamby parade (NPP) dont climb on their high horses with them do they!

Soon we'll be fined for swearing in our own homes :rolleyes:

    Ridiculous. Paxman used the f-word as part of a quote alleged to come from Gordon Brown in regard to the bullying allegations. It was uttered 20 minutes into what turned out to be a fascinating half hour of a Newsnight discussion on the whole subject. It was all done in context. Loved the way Paxman just slipped in the delayed apology in a hushed sarcastic tone. But dear, oh dear!! There is clearly blind panic at the BBC in covering their backs with OFCOM, even almost two hours past the watershed on an intelligent programme. Stop treating us as fools!

    This is so typical of the BBC. I mean, it completely makes a mockery of the Watershed in the first place really doesn't it. Jeremy Paxman or any celebrity should be allowed to say what they like after 9pm. It wouldn't be so bad if Newsnight was shown at 9pm, it's on at 10.30pm which is when ALL young children should be in bed by that time.

    The BBC will be showing CBBC at 11.20pm at this rate :)

    If a small minority of viewers (and I suspect, some non-viewers) had not been so quick to complain to Ofcom (or the Daily Mail) over the slightest thing in the past, we would not be in this situation now.

    If he'd gone into a rant and sworn at a guest then apologise. But this was (alleged to have been) a direct quote and the f-word was necessary to give it the proper context.

    No apology necessary, and the BBC should grow a pair on this one.

    Election coming up, maniac in charge of the Mail, scared stiff of it and the Tories, they probably feel they have to. A total non story but thanks to Dacre, this is where we are

    100% agree. OFCOM's terms of reference must now be to stamp on anything vaguely controversial for fear of upsetting someone who hears about it 3 days later in the Daily mail :rolleyes:
