Being "good for his age" doesn't cut it.He was the presenter of the BBC flagship entertainment show, he's paid "silly money" and he made an increasing number of mistakes this year.
In showbusiness, you're only as good as your last performance and his last several were poor. He should go.
Maybe they should be locked in the stocks and fed on bread and dripping until they learn the error of their ways?
Or maybe it could be accepted that they were congratulating a friend on winning the series and could have been asked to move back in a far politer way than they were.

If he didn't stumble and trip over his lines and cut down on the so called 'jokes' he would have had more than a minute to say his goodbye to the viewers.
They were caught up on the emotion and Bruce, as a very experienced live presenter, should have understood this. A simple 'Louis and Flavia, please can I have a word' followed by 'please can you clear the floor for the final dance?' would have been far more palatable than what we got.

He allowed spontaneity to take over and yet he also appeared in complete control.
Now that's the way to do it. Completely professional; allowing the winners to take centre stage, and giving the impression that he's really pleased for them and not trying to be the focus of attention himself.
And yet, he managed to get across a whole load of information about when and where interviews with the winners could be seen and to thank everybody involved in the production and the viewers for their votes.
OK he is 84 and set in his ways a bit but for gods sake give this guy a break

Some of the comments written about Bruce are horribly rude. He is an amazingly experienced Saturday night hosts and knows 'showbiz' inside out. Everyone has their part to play in making Strictly the success it is and Bruce delivers.
It's a bit of an annual tradition now for the SCD final... Who will charge the stage and get shouted at by Bruce! I think it's quite funny.

Absolutely! Not something I would normally do, but I've put in a formal complaint to the BBC about Bruce's appalling petulant, unprofessional behaviour shouting "Back off, back off!" etc.
Completely ruined the moment for Louis and Flavia. I'm surprised he didn't pull all attention back to himself by announcing his retirement from the show (which, it seems, he is considering but not total retirement from show biz).
Why the h**** should I? I remember The Generation Game vividly, and he was awful and excessively rude to the game contestants then, and that went to his head, and he was appalling at the Palladium too.
He only got a knighthood because he got a whole lot of people to push for it, and the Palace resisted for years. Most showbiz people who get honours for "services to entertainment" do fantastic charity work and other stuff behind the scenes, but all Brucie has ever done is present some shows on TV for years and years, then forget to retire.

The reason I have never had any respect for him. I hated the way he had his favourites and then went out of his way to "sabotage" the other contestants so his favourites could win. He has a nasty streak as far as I am concerned.
He has been nothing short of an embarrassment this series from beginning to end and last night was the cherry on the cake.
Bruce should show us some respect and apologise for his churlish behaviour. His inability to go with the spirit of celebration and congratulations spoilt the last few minutes for many viewers. An apology would go some way to making ammends.
