What if the Capaldi Doctor...

...is the Valeyard? Might seem a tad far-fetched but it's something that could bring an interesting spin on things. The Doctor's darker side has been hinted at throughout 11's tenure - the Dream Lord, the "slither of ice in his heart" and, of course, the Hurt Doctor incarnation to name but a few. In Nightmare In Silver, the Doctor made an interesting comment when battling with his 'Cyber' counterpart, it was something along the lines of "if I regenerate now, who knows what 'me' will turn up.." If the theories about the Hurt incarnation being the 'forgotten' Doctor between 8/9 are correct, technically this would shift the numbers and make Capaldi 13...the 'evil' side of the Doctor alluded to in Trial Of A Timelord - a.k.a. The Valeyard. I think it would be compelling to have a season where the Doctor is battling with himself to quash the Valeyard or even have Capaldi play an evil Doctor for most of the season, as we know he can do dark and sinister, with possibly Clara and/or River trying to find a way to bring the 'good' Doctor back from within himself. Just a wild theory.

No it doesn't...
Caution.
Oh dear...
That and the fact he wanted to wipe out all knowledge of him again making him live longer maybe one reason he wanted to keep his head down more was that he was afraid of just what his next regeneration will be like.
Question is how far would it go ?. Clara could try and help but would she reach as point where enough is enough and she leaves ?. River coming back would also be good . Either something to do with 11s exit at christmas or 12 decides to visit her. Maybe he finds a way to either bring her back to life or send her to Amy and Rory.
Yay, DariaM is back with his/her personal crusade to persuade the world that the 2005+ series is entirely separate from the 1963-1989 series even though a) no-one else in the world believes this and b) every bit of evidence we have disproves this dopey theory.
Still, full marks to DariaM for continuing this fruitless and utterly pointless campaign in the face of totally overwhelming odds. It shows commitment, if nothing else.
Back on track - I really doubt that PC will be the Valeyard. Just as some people really want every female baddie to be the Rani, now it seems that anytime a 'darker' Doctor is mentioned we get calls for the return of the Valeyard. Very few people, outside of the hardcore of fandom, remember or care who the Valeyard actually was, so it would be a rather unlikely plot twist to rely on the revelation of a villain that appeared just once, 25 years ago.
Why can't Peter Capaldi simply play the next incarnation of the Doctor?
I didn't necessarily mean he had to be the Valeyard by name, but a characterisation akin to this based on the hints to the Doctor's darker nature. Of course he can absolutely play the next incarnation of the Doctor - I never said he shouldn't - I was just harmlessly theorising HOW he COULD play the next incarnation of the Doctor. Isn't that what we're here to do? :-)
No-one will ever agree with you on this so why do you keep posting it! You're making yourself look very foolish!
I agree! Why cant he decide his own character like the others have been allowed to do! I'm sure if he had to play the part in a prescribed way, he wouldn't have taken the role!
I have never been convinced that the Valeyard is an actual incarnation anyway! As the Master suggests, the Valeyard was 'created' from the Doctors darkness, not an actual physical incarnation...like the Dreamlord, not real!
It was just a theory. I never said he SHOULD play the part in any way, I just thought it was an interesting idea. Clearly I shouldn't have discussed anything of that nature on a discussion board.
What is your problem?
I don't think its a bad idea as such, I just don't agree that this would be the best direction and gave my reasons!
Why single me out!
Some people are so bloody sensitive! Its not YOUR thread or YOUR subject, you cant control the discussion! Stop throwing your toys out of your pram simply because someone disagrees with you!
Oh dear. To pull out a quote from Revenge of the Cybermen, "Careful, Doctor, I think you've riled him." I wasn't 'singling' you out. That wasn't my intention, sorry.
I have no problem, and of course you are perfectly entitled to disagree with my idea, that's what a discussion forum is all about.
I just felt it was a tad dismissive, seeing as my idea was simply that - just an idea. No harm intended.
Doesn't matter. This can be expanded on via dialogue very easily.
You've been remarkably quiet recently.
