Hi all
Newbie here.
Having problems with setup/recording with humax pvr-9150t.
Getting usual problems:-
picture freezes to the extent unwatchable, poorish quality picture.
Also get antenna short circuit message. Currently aerial into humax, then scart from to tv. I used to go through the video recorder without to many problems. Would grateful for help, or pointers etc:confused:

Isn't that a Terrestial PVR, not a Satellite one?

If so best to ask the question in the Terrestial thread.

Wrong forum - you have a Freeview PVR.
Check the aerial plug is correctly wired - the short circuit message implies that the inner and earth cores are touching.

Not necessarily, some aerials are a short circuit to DC so the Humax will display the 'antenna short circuit' message if the menu item Antenna Power is enabled and is not powering a set top active aerial.

If you are not using a set top active aerial or aerial amplifier requiring power from the Humax then the menu item Antenna Power should be disabled. Do a Default Setting, this will disable Antenna Power, reset and retune the Humax. If you've still got reception problems then report back with signal strength and quality readings, it may be your aerial is not good enough or damaged. The video recorder used previously quite possibly provided slight amplification.

Phred and Repassac why do you say this is the wrong forum? Surely this is the right forum for Humax Terrestrial receivers and recorders if you cascade down from forums.

Mike you could try Big_Les’s Suggestion doing a default reset and retune you will loose your recording schedule so you will have to put those back in but all your previous recordings will be OK. How long have you had your 9150t?

There are some of us who know the answer to that, not just Phred and Repassac.
Digital Spy have moderators/adminstrators that can move threads to more appropriate locations. This is what has happened to this thread. Have a look at the Freesat+ Recorders threads on http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=199. The moderator/adminstrator have left a link to this new location for anyone who saw this in the old location.

On some internet forums the moderators/adminstrators add an extra post to indicate that the thread has moved. On Digital Spy we need to read between the lines to understand what has happened. *Once* you know this movement can happen IMO its pretty obvious.

Luis: Thanks for the info about moving threads it is a pity they don’t put a flag to indicate its been moved.
Also my apologies to Phred and Repassac.

In that case I would suspect your aerial installation. It is possible some aspect of it has become damaged or faulty in some way.

The obvious one is movement of the aerial in the wind if it is on the roof. If it is in a loft then have you moved stuff around in the loft or put more stuff up there?

If the aerial is on the roof then you can also get water ingress into the terminal block. This will degrade the connections and reduce the signal strength to some degree.

Other possible problems are damage to the cable which could be allowing rain water to get in and damage the copper conductors.

Or worse, allow water into the tuners on the Humax.
