So if you were to create you own ideal judging line up featuring one from each of the aforementioned categories to give a fair chance to all genres...who would you pick (And if you want...why)
Rock/Indie - Noel Gallagher (Not worried about telling things how he sees it and from what I've seen doesn't care for Sob Stories or people taking liberties)
R'N'B - Will.I.Am (Gotta go with The Voice man, he's incredibly funny, passionate and as a producer too he seems to have quite a good business head on him)
Pop - Mel C (You can't ignore she was part of the biggest girl band in history, she has had solo success and been successful in the west end too, can also be quite blunt with people)
Motown/Soul/Jazz - George Benson (Not an obvious choice but is a very good singer/song writer. Also a great showman when he performs while playing an instrument...he could also be a representative for the legends. Also quite witty)
I know that's 3 Men and Only 1 Woman but I think it would be an incredible judging line up.
What about everyone else?

I disagree but each to their own...who would you choose?
R&B - John Legend
Pop - Justin Timberlake
Soul - Mary J Blige
The soul/motown is kind of similar to R&B though to me
Pop: Michael Buble. He's not exactly pop but I think he'd be wicked or even Adele. She's young and current and I think she'd be like Danni, nice but honest.
Rock: Jared Leto (Now I'm dreaming!)
Soul: Seconding Mary J Blige
Yeah kind off, I mainly associate Soul/Motown with 70s/80s...obviously there's exceptions
R&B: Alexandra Burke....
Pop: Will Young
Soul/Motown: Lionel Ritchie
While it's not a bad idea to cover all bases genre-wise like that, I think it'd work better for The Voice. For The X Factor it just works having people involved in management/record labels (Simon, Sharon, Louis), and people who are relevant in the music industry in the past (Gary, Kelly), or at present (Tulisa, Cheryl) regardless of genre. The judging panel isn't always on fire but I think they often strike the right balance between the judges; backstage and onstage, male and female, soft and harsh, foreign and native, old and young.
Actually I quite like the panel I've picked I'd rather see Simon Cowell there instead of Lionel Ritchie though...
RnB: Interchangeable with Soul/Jazz, I'd say Mary J. Blige here just because she's amazing and she'd be fantastic at a music panel show imo.
Pop: A friendly face should fill this position, somebody very kind and not particularly intimidating, but also knowledgeable in the industry. I'd like this role to be filled by Adele.
Soul/Jazz: Interchangeable with RnB, possibly Bruno Mars because he's very passionate about music and you can hear it in his performances, thus making him more likely to be a great judge. Also quite mainstream and current which would allow viewers to connect through a member of the panel.
This would give a nicely mixed panel: four different genres; half Brit, half American; half male, half female. If the panel was used on X Factor, there are various ways the categories could be allocated as each judge has enough background to be able to mentor at least 3/4 of the categories well.
R&B - Drake - Nicki Minaj did American Idol so I wonder if Drake would do UK XF?
Pop - Rochelle Wiseman - she's been in music industry for 12 years now with S Club Juniors and The Saturdays and has a fun personality.
Soul/Jazz - Mary J. Blige - great suggestion from above posters! She's loud!
I agree with this. 5 judges maybe:
Pop: Paloma Faith
Rock/Indie: Damon Albarn
Electonic/Dance: Calvin Harris
Hip hop/RnB: Rihanna
Folk/country: Marcus Mumford
Although it may not be fair to compare a girl band with a rock band, DJ, rapper or a fiddler it would still be a great show i think
Who would you have then?
I like this suggestion but I would go for Noel Gallagher for Indie judge. Also Will Young is a good choice for Pop and I love your choice of Lionel Ritchie for Soul/Motown.
Not sure about R & B though but not Miss Burke.
I think a compliation of judges would work well for Xfactor one judge who specialises in various types of music instead of only one type which is mainly pop
Rock/indie - Damon Albarn or Jools Holland
R&B - Trevor Nelson
Pop - Gary Barlow
Soul - Ruby Turner
I'd have 5 judges though - adding either Bjork (I know she's not British but oh so nearly now) or John Lydon
Rnb: Kelly Rowland
Indie: Hayley Williams
Pop: Robbie Williams or Will Young
Ahhh Jools Holland is a good one
Jared Leto...<3 (indie/rock judge)
Adam Levine...<3 (pop judge)
Justin Timberlake...<3 (R&B judge)
With Nic, see my dream panel is also the sexiest panel ever!
Surely most people would say "Drake who??"
BIB Would just love to see that guy on a judging panel!:D
Not Noel.
