Well after the usual predictable stuff having a pop at the OP for the thread title, and "Christians are just as bad", I'd just say from a pragmatic point of view that she (Lady Ga Ga) should give a wide berth to any countries where nutters, religious or otherwise, are threatening her.
Cue someone to jump to their defence and assure me that she faces no threat.
Including Christian countries that might threaten her... but ohhhh no... not aloud to say that in Blueblade World.. cuz itz predicable  Only Muslimz do it eh Blueblade... makes for a simpler world view I imagine
Oh.. I imagine all the anti-Islam bollocks on the forum is unique and unexpected  Wish I had the filter your provider gives you that edits all that out.
Live by the sword/die by the sword. If this woman wants everyone to be shocked by her appearance & her beliefs & actions, then don't complain when you get a reaction.

I think I'd feel justified in complaining if someone wanted to kill me. I can understand people questioning her wisdom wanting to there in the first place. I don't object to people objecting to her act, but you're going to have a hard time defending death threats.

By that analogy, she should have to accept media intrusion, crazy fans, not being able to shop in a supermarket without getting harrassed, protests by baptist church groups, being denounced by Pat Robertson etc..
Her actions hardly come anywhere near to warranting death threats or violence against her... Shes got every right to complain

It's not a case of crazy fans or media intrusion.
She's everything the Middle East hate about the West, so of course they don't want her taking her garbage over there and expecting them to buy it. I don't buy her either.

But they do buy it... its only a small minority that are protesting. These extremists are imposing their minority views on others who don't share them.
And yeah, Gaga's performances aren't going to be liked by the more conservative muslims but she isn't deliberately doing this to provoke them. Its a performance which many people in that country want to see

Middle East? This was a sold out show in Jakarta, where 60,000 people with minds of their own were willing to pay to see her perform.
I don't buy her either, but jeez, you should try speaking for yourself.

...protests trying to get the Lady Gaga concert cancelled . Much had to do with a particular song called "Judas" which they say is Satanic and promotes devil worship.
She refused to tone it down so they aren't trying very hard to save the show, and I can't really find any sympathy.
She wears silly clothes, sings songs that don't really make a lot of sense and wiggles about a bit. It's not as if she's up there sacrificing virgins or something. Most people would see it as harmless entertainment. This is just about a bunch of conservatives using threats and nastiness in an attempt to keep out what they see as Western influences on their precious culture whether other people within their cultures want it or not.
Of course, they tend to turn a blind eye to all the horrible things their own cultures enshrine (granted, there are good things too), and use the rallying cry against the invader to turn attention away from internal criticism.
Oh, and we do exactly the same thing about other cultures too, though we tend to warp and assimilate rather than ban things. Then we sell those mutated cultural wares back to them .
She should have just toned down anything that was unnecessarily raunchy and relied on her talent.
Nah, that would be like having cola without the bubbles. The fans want the persona she's created, not some toned down censored version of it.
Imagine if you could only put on an international football match there if the players were covered from head to toe, they couldn't celebrate goals extravagantly, and half the rules were changed. It really wouldn't be football any longer, would it?
Probably best to look her up on YouTube. Her videos are the ones that tend to have hundreds of millions of views. I think it's excellent pop music, but it's still just pop music at the end of the day. Hardly something to merit the almost religious zeal of some of her fans.
Sorry for pointing that out.. next time I'll just blindly accept the post and believe everything I read from forum members - even yappy
And no one here has so far even thought about defending these intolerant nutters.
Or you could try just commenting on the topic.
It seems to me these days that many threads are just used as a platform to take a cheapshot at the OP, rather than, y'know, actually debating the bloody topic

Apparently pointing out it happens elsewhere counts as denial... who knew?
she's a 'musician'? who would have guessed
You have a good point, she achieved her aim:)

By 'die by the sword' I didn't mean literally.

I've never heard her singing, is she sh*te then?

It has to be a virtually 100% muslim country.
