I don't know if "fancy" is the right word but I always found Juliet Morris to be agreeable.

Reginald Bosanquet. I got very very drunk one night and still remember some of the things I said about him

When I was growing up there weren't any female newsreaders.

So I guess I'll have to say Peter Woods :o

These days Alice Bhandhukravi from BBC London News.

    Fun question.

Fancy - Jim Hartz and Peter Hyams. Yes, Peter Hyams the director used to be a news anchor on CBS.

Admire - Pat Harper, Gabe Pressman, Huntley and Brinkley, Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow (replays), Tex Antoine, the weatherman who told women to enjoy rape, Sue Simmons, and all the others in the 1960s and 1970s who weren't teleprompter reading bobbleheads who practiced looking sad and concerned before the red light went on.

Men and women who had a brain and weren't just pretty Ken and Barbie dolls under the age of 35.

Definitely. I have fancied her for many years, indeed, I still find her a very attractive woman.

I met her in a pub in Hampstead in June 1982. She was very pleasant, polite and to cap it all, gave me a kiss on the cheek when I said I was sorry to hear about TV-AM.

When I were a lad, women news readers were limited to Anna Ford and Angela Rippon, they never did a thing for me. I was probably still enamoured with big chested blondes at the time.

So fancying newsreaders probably passed me by.

Are you sure? TV-am didn't start broadcasting until February 1983...

You may (or may not) be pleased to know that he would occasionally wear rubber fetish knickers under his clothing as he read the news. He was a bit of a regular at Sex, Malcolm McClaren & Vivian Westwood's shop on the King's Road. John Lydon worked there briefly (pre-Pistols) and sold him a skin-tight rubber top.

It was just after she had announced she was leaving the BBC. The papers were hounding her daily and trashing her at every opportunity.

Anna Ford; definitely... A reporter from the Midlands who went national - Frances Coverdale. Michelle Newman - good suggestion. Even the young Anne Diamond when first on ITV. Later years, big thing for Jill Dando.

and if we can extend this to regional ITV continuity announcers that sometimes used to read a news bulletin as a filler, then an honourary mention to Beverly Ashworth of Granada.
