I need to replace the HDD on my HP laptop (DV6000). The current drive is a SATA 1, can I use a SATA 2 drive in it?

My first thought was yes they are backwards compatible like USB 2 works on 1.
Google
says
the
same
, worth reading some of them about speeds and jumpers.

Yeah, backwards compatible but you'll only get SATA 1 speeds from your SATA 2 HDD.
