I bought the Upgrade deal on Windows 8 at launch for £24.99 and found the email containing the serial.
I can't find the email tho that I got the media centre addon for free.
Is there any way I can find out my current product key for it.
Wanna do a fresh install but don't wanna loose media centre.
Could I contact Microsoft with my details would they give it me?

Try Belarc Advisor, Speccy and Jelly Bean - there are others as well if they don't work.
I found out the hard way, had the Media Centre key and it was activated fine. Around about a month ago I formatted that PC, reinstalled 8, added Media Centre with the key which it accepted, it upgraded but when it rebooted it lost activation. Phoned Microsoft and they said the keys could only be activated before a certain date (much earlier in the year) even of they have already been activated, they cannot be re-activated after that date.
Quite annoyed at that and I had to reinstall again as there is no way of removing WMC once installed.
That's strange.
I had to reinstall Windows 8 on one machine, and added Media Center with the original (free) key, and it installed fine.
Think it was about two months ago.
It doesn't make sense that they would give the keys free to begin with, and then effectively withdraw them?
I did have to completely reinstall Windows 8 and WMC on one of my PCs, but it could well have been before Jan 31st.
The PC two months ago I did a refresh install rather than a full reinstall, which didn't affect Media Center.
Yup that is what I have read elsewhere, if you Refresh it will be fine, if you format then its a no-go.
Glad you was fortunate, I cut my losses with it. No big loss as I am quite a fan of XBMC.
You can't save them all, you know.
Hilarious.....:D...That's it then..
Another vote for XBMC. MUCH better than media center and its free. Always makes me giggle when a free program is much better than the paid for alternatives. Easy choice.
HaHa no thanks, having Hyper-V built in to Windows 8 alone makes it far more useful than Windows 7.
I love it, I have a dedicated server that hosts all TV and Films that I have ripped along with all Family holiday Photos and Videos. A MySQL database keeps a centralised database of everything and then tiny Acer Revos attached to every TV running XBMC. Best Media Centre on the market and completely free.
