the Outlook / Hotmail app won't connect (galaxy ace 2) unless I'm connected to wifi.
It just says "Last connected: [the time i left the house]"
If I use the my tablet it works fine (my tablet connects to the internet using my phones wifi tethering function when out and about) - exactly the same outlook app.
Ive tried deleting and reinstalling the app. no change!
everything else works fine on my phone when on 3g, whatsapp, facebook, twitter etc... its only outlook that has the problem.
has anyone else been having issues?

no I haven't tried that - it might have to be my last resort.
(hotmail doesn't support imap... so it would have to be pop, I think)
I've got it set to "push".... pressing the refresh button along the bottom has no effect (unless im on wifi)
If I have any new emails, they come through immediately as soon as I walk through the door and the wifi connects.
the problem ONLY exists on 3g / gprs.... ?!

There is a workaround in that second thread that you could try, not sure if it will work for you. A proper fix from Microsoft might show up at some point within our lifetime, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.
If you do set up your account using the default mail app, set it up as an exchange (ActiveSync) account and use the server 'm.hotmail.com' - this will allow you to properly sync your mail, calendar & contacts rather than using POP which is terrible. This will also allow you to keep your push email.
thank you for the information!
