Besides which, we don't actually know what the BBC and/or Moffatt have planned yet so how do you know they aren't giving us something better. Which, if Big Finish's previous attempts at a multi-doctor story are anything to go by, won't be a huge challenge anyway.
I guess they got away with the wording.
Tom Baker who's nearly 80, has already stated. For him it would be wrong to be part of the 50th anniversary shows, quoting his age. Truly who wants to see a [pardon me please] group of geritol loving senior citizen hobling about
Maybe using remastered stock shots would work to an extent. But still how to make relevant classic Doctors to the story???
That's not the point. Just about everyone's said they're not in it because even if they are, they can't say yet. The majority of fans were hoping all of the Doctor's would be rocking up in November though, despite their claims.
Me too but sadly I can't see it. I think the BBC would of asked Big Finish not to. They would of wanted the TV event to be the big reunion, with all the attention on that! Plus they wouldn't of allowed it incase it contradicted any of the plot for the TV multi Doctor story.
Also, when they brought back Davros, The Master, etc, werent Big Finish told not to use those characters until the TV show had? I'm sure they'd of requested something similar here?
But you never know. Here's hoping.
I'm pretty sure that's true yes; and I agree with with the rest of your post aswell and so am now in the "I strongly doubt any classic series Doctors are coming back camp" sadly.
Still there is always classic series companions, new series Doctors, returning villians and as said we don't know anything for sure until April.
I want to be optimistic, plus until it actually films, there's still hope.
I dont6 see why tom baker and the other doctors cant be in the 50th
I recon they could explain the aging in each of the doctor, could be easy as thre just aging, but it take longer to show, and we dont tsee this, as thye regenerate
I can see that 2013 is going to be an expensive year for me in regards to Doctor Who, and I'm not someone who buys much Who merchandise normally; personally I'm happy with the DVDs and a tie-in non fiction book at Christmas, but you know it's the BIG 5-0.
Who cares about any of that? It's the 50th! Anything goes and it should be a true celebration and one last hurrah for most of the Doctors!
And look at Time Crash. Moffat could of made it work.
Doesn't the 10 year old inside you scream of excitement at the idea of an episode called "The Eleven Doctors"? Think of all of the children who have made their own version of such an episode with their action figures. Imagine how it would of made them feel.
oh i know. My imagination has run wild about what I wish could happen. But I am trying to be a bit of a realist...cant help it. Maybe Moffat can come up with some Timey Wimey reason why the Doctors and their associates suddenly became just normal people at a certain point in their time streams and thus age naturally and live out unremarkable lives while the universe goes to hell-with no doctors to intervene the monsters reign. Imagine it- Tom Baker as an old man who has forgotten and Matts doctor has to make him remember. Chills. Those two. On screen. God it would be amazing. So of course I would welcome something like that. But I think it would be really difficult to pull it off. Who knows. I suppose my trepidation comes from my respect for Moffat as a writer and the almost impossible task he faces. DW fandom can be amazing. But it can also be vicious. Perhaps we should all just wait and see what the showrunner has in store for us.
Which makes me think the multi-Doctor reunion on TV won't happen...
However, Docs 9 through 11 are perfectly capable of being on TV. Combine the two, we kind of get all of them together...
Big Finish is a niche product though, you can't really compare it to tv; even if The Light at the End is their biggest selling release ever, you'd still be talking a tiny fraction of the tv show audience.
I don't think the fact BF are doing a multi doctor thing rules out tv doing one.
Remember the Doctor lies and Tom Baker is the Doctor. He looked older than he is now in The Leisure Hive so Matt's Doctor could pick him up in the middle of that. I'm a big fan of the old Doctors forgetting or being made human and being taken on an adventure to remember.
I'm dancing a happy feet dance!!!! :):):)
