"David Walliams’s book about a homeless man who is befriended by a lonely young girl, Chloe, was written with kids in mind, so it’s stuffed with references to bottoms, belches, farts and smells. But there’s some subtle moralising and tackling of prejudices. "

I hope it's not going to be dancing

The trailer I have seen it looks quite good.

David Walliams has Tweeted that the 3D version is on BBC One HD. That will confuse the masses, as the other 3D simulcasts have done.

I expect thousands will be pressing their 2D>3D buttons on BBC One HD and not getting the real thing!!

2D on BBC One HD, 3D on BBC HD.

    Sheridan Smith is terrific!

No she is awful. At least she's not playing the dumb chav, first time in her life she's played a different role.

Did anyone else notice that the liquid in the bottles went from coloured to all the same brown colour?

Bad casting if you ask me.. Specially Sheridan Smith and Johnny Vegas, they don't suit their parts at all.

Actually i take it back.. Johnny would suit his part if someone else played Smith's part.

Odd casting for the Mum and Dad but it's enjoyable enough so far.

Gave it three minutes then switched over.

Didn't realise it was Walliams creation but now understand why I could only last three minutes.

I gave it longer, then switched over.

I'm loving this, but then I'm a big kid. I think Hugh is brilliant in this!

There is only one thing that stinks around here.
Walliams. The BBC really should look a lot closer to what people really want. Hey BBC...just ask the people who you employ. It ain't difficult ffs.

I find it amazing that people give anything, three minutes and switch over, Programme makings have to work very fast to please anyone, I recall the very best only fools and horses episodes took a while to set up a very good belly laugh.

In fact IIRC, Only fools... was slow to start and it was the repeat sires that got the viewers.

The Great Morecambe and Wise, (BBC2) can take more than three minutes to set up a joke. ( or for us to notice it).

Considering there is only an old clip show on the other side, This is good, and new TV for Christmas.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Pudsey's been good! As the Duchess.

Mr Stink's a bit of a stinker alright. Well, a bit boring anyway

Not at all what I expected, and a bit of a waste to film in 3d for three special effects.

Or her role in Accused alongside John Bishop.

I thought this one off show was pretty decent tonight. Good Christmas fare.

Really enjoyed that. Though one can't help but think that the Mother's political views were a bit too obviously meant to be parodying some of the attitudes of the ministers in the Coalition to the unemployed/disabled. I can imagine there'll be a diatribe about it in the Daily Mail tomorrow, claiming it's yet further evidence of the liberal/anti-government bias at the BBC.

    Sheridan Smith is terrific!

She ruins everything she appears in, though as Mr Stink was pretty dire anyway it didn't really matter.

I have bookmarked her imdb page now so that I can avoid anything she's on. :D
